Description

hey guys (and gals) here's another update of my Empty Room. i've added the wardrobe on the right, the window (yes, it's a window and NOT a mirror :p) above the bed, and made a few other corrections. since i recently learnt how to set individual pivot points for objects in different layers, i went and fixed up the drawers of the desk and the bedside table, so that each drawer has its own pivot point at its center, which makes moving them around a lot easier. i've also give the door of the room (which you can't see) its own pivot point so it actually swings open properly, and the same goes for the wardrobe doors. radiosity in this version of the scene is just about out of the question. as an experiment, i set my old P2 350 with its 128mb of ram to render this scene with radiosity on, at around 12:30pm, and by 6pm it had just gotten up to doing pass 2/5 of segment 1/3 of the image so, yeah heheh lemme know what you think :) oh yeah, i also attempted a carpet version for oooZENOooo since he complained that reflective tiles were out of place in a girl's room :p BTW, i thought there was going to be a lightwave section in the marketplace as well. where am i going to attempt selling this wonderful piece of art of mine if we don't have our own marketplace? i'd especially like some comments about the window because it just doesn't feel right. feels like the frame is too thin or something. but do feel free to comment on anything else as well :)

cool angle, helps show off more of the room. I like the bright light coming in, has a warm, almost magical feel to it. The window does currently look like a mirror without a reflection in it. I think this may be for 2 reasons. 1) there isnt anything outside to see (The blue is meant to be sky but in a lot of art, it is also used to show reflective surfaces) 2) there does not appear to be light coming through it. The shape and framing of the window came out excellent though. You are really kicking ass with this program. :)

I think there should be something going down the middle of the window, just because that is how mine is :p hehe
Looks good so far :)

This is looking tremendously improved! I like all the little bits and pieces you've added in here. I'm going to post some modeling suggestions for your windows in the forum. :o)

The bed looks to be scaled a bit too small compared to the other things in the room. It's only as tall as a drawer!

Looking good Rays, I do agree with Gambit however on the scaling. You could add a little more realism by giving the window a pane, some cross supports, and possibly making it clear with a sky map outside. I'm really feeling some volumetric lighting coming in through the glass as well ;)! Other than that, looking excellent my friend.

hmmmmm.... i think i'll need to re-make the bed. it's not just the scaling that's wrong, it's also the efficiency of the mesh. the bed sheet alone is 2400 polys, because i hadn't thought of using subpatches to get the same amount of smoothness. i'll keep you posted :)

Cool Rays...You are making a lot of progress on this job. The lighting is excellent too...maybe a touch to bright but very well done.
