Description

Melancholy wafts o'er the hills This quiet summer night I listen to a whippoorwill Warble of its lonely plight~ Still, still, now the countryside Oak trees etch a silhouette Of blackest jet Which seems to guide The moonlight down~ Soon again, the sad notes trill And soar aloft on gentle breezes To distant hills, which are still But, faint now, a call returns and teases~ From the trees, I see a fleeting thing Swift! Whippoorwill, Swift! Think I Darting to a new found friend a-wing Lonely no more I bid goodbye~ Whew this took a lot out of me:) A special thanks to everyone for the prayers and get well wishes I am so glad to be a part of RR and to have made all the wonderful friends I have here...you all mean a lot to me you just don't know...I am still awfully weak and my R lung just doesn't want to stop hurting, thank you for the prayers and thank you for reading my poem and just being there for me You all are wonderful and I luv ya:) Susan aka Blush~

Beautifully atmospheric poem ... so easy to visualise. A poem to read again - and this second time pause awhile and ponder. Take care, Susan.

I hope you feel better now.. Your words capture a favrite moment that only comes during my favorite time of year... Comes too slowly, leaves too quick. And yes those inky-dark trees do attract and soak up moonlight.
