Ultrafractal 3.02 - contrast sharpened in PaintshopPro7 - signature added with Photoshop7
Saw a show on Discovery where they determined that Horus was an actual person who was deified by the Pharaoh because of his lengendary skill in geometry and design. It was Horus who designed the ancient pyramids and many of the monuments in ancient Egypt, using his skills in geometry, and the beginnings of algebra. From these, much later, came the theorems of Pythagorus - from which came, 2000 years later, the fractal geometry of Benoit Mandelbrot. Hmm..."Horus, Great Great Grand-daddy of the fractal"?
All the 96 layers of this image used the "Gnarl" formula with the Tapestry-x, Orbit Traps and Thin Orbit Traps 2 outside coloring ucl's. The textures are a mix of 3dSFBM, mt-Cluster, 3d Backdrops and Voroni ucl's among others with the mt-Pixel formula. The pyramids are made using the Platonic Solids mapping in the "sam.uxf" folder, the golden rim uses the Circle Limit mapping in the "plk-uxf" folder and the rounded shapes are made using the Glass Hemisphere mapping in the "Standard.uxf folder.

I was hoping it was about time for another of you wonderful images! YAY! Love the idea behind the pic, love the execution of said idea. Particularly love the idea that even that little pyramid graphic that most people (read ME) would have just used a graphics program to paste in, YOU create in UF. Oh, and btw, the texture and depth on the green is beautiful. AWESOME work, Rick, as always. It's always a joy to see you post. (/end luv-fest) snickers

WOW!!! Hey, Rick, so how long does a thing like this take you to create? 10 minutes? 15? You make it look so easy, but we ALL know it isn't nearly easily done. You are a true marvel. Roses to you, my friend!

I'm not amazed, but I'm sure gobsmacked! The pyramids are a nice touch, and the composition and colors rock. BIGTIME. The preface is interesting, to say the least. The rich gold metallic trim and birdface is fantastic..and I could go on, ad nauseum. WOW.

What else can I say? It's superb Rick. A lot of time and effort went into this, I can see, and it's a stunning job! The colors and textures are outstanding. The barely visible hint of texture on the orb is enticing, and the mythical representation is very creative. Well done, my friend! Congrats!

this has been my take on the whole thing with Horus and fractals. Someone who is a wonderful friend to me first introduced me to this path of study and I am still amazed with what all I can find in them ... things representing horus... as well as the scar from my cancer surgery on my arm. an eye. This is a beautiful piece and wonderful composition. I love the colors you used as well as the textures used. BIG HUGE VOTE for always thinking outside of the box.
