Description

I would like to introduce all my friends here at Renderosity to Ramses, my constant companion! Two years ago, the day after my husband was to go on a six month deployment (which turned into a year due to Iraq) I returned home from shopping with my daughter one evening to find all the cats from my subdivision sitting on my front lawn--all quiet, all staring at my front door! There sat Ramses! I opened the door to bring in my groceries; he walked in, lay down, and stayed! Fully grown, neutered, and housebroken. He was in perfect condition and exceptionally affectionate. I named him Ramses (the Great or the Damned, depending on his behavior!) because I was immersed in studying Egypt's ancient history. He only has half a tail! And no one can figure out if he was born that way or it happened when he was a kitten, but he's not sensitive to it and the tip is perfectly rounded off with no scarring. No one in my neighborhood had ever seen him before and no previous 'owner' could be found. He's really huge as his paws can curl up over the edge of the kitchen countertop! He has his peculiarities as well: drinks only from a faucet, dives under the sofa at the first sound of thunder (heart of a lion this one!) and sleeps on my shoulder all night, exactly like the sphinx is positioned! He will wake me up if my dreaming is disturbing by licking my eyes and his sense for this is uncanny! In the picture he's atop my desk and waiting for me to get off the computer at the other desk. If I take too long, he'll turn his back and face the blinds! LOL Just thought I'd share with all of you how a furry companion can fill a need in our lives...they find us!

So true ... I really do believe they find us. Great story and wonderful shot. Every time I go to take a picture of my cat or dog they turn their head just as the picture snaps. I have abut 50 pictures of the side of their head. A few flashes in their eyes and it taught them really quick. :)

Sadly my wife's allergic - so the only cat I'm allowed is a tin and brass one which I've called 'Snip' ... and it's always a treat to see other people's real cats on RR. Thanks!

Awww...I love both the photo and the story, and am so glad you decided to share it! Ramses is such a handsome fellow, and I'm thinking he probably knows that already. lol He does give the greatest gift though, his love and affection. Awesome all around!

Lady Bast has certainly given title to this Lord of Feline! What regal features and noble stare! He is sure to be familiar with all your secrets and experiences, wise as that face betrays...
