------------- The Harpies - Illandra
Mollasar Mallabane and his brother, Surtrik, escaped the purge of his family by forces of the Drow Queen, Mellikan Lolnivog VII in the early 18400's. He fled Alkhelm down the River Gust, deeper into the cavernous passages and tunnels that lay thousands of feet beneath the surface of Arrallon, emerging in the Central Barrier Mountains of Callona. Thus began years of adventuring for him on the surface. When he returned to his home, he was leading a band of adventurers and a revolutionary army. The Drovik Revolution freed the peoples of the DrowLands from the cruel yoke of Lolnivog rule and saw the death of their Goddess, Lolth. Treallar was freed and became God of the Drovikallum. Those that had been well positioned or loyal to the old regime became hunted criminals. The Drovik Purge of Chairman Mollasar had begun.
In a manner not unlike Mollasar's own escape, Drow nobles, priestesses, and slavers fled for their lives from the Chairman's terrible vengeance. Not only those dedicated to the worship of Lolth were targeted. Any who might have had ties to noble families, demonic or diabolic churches, or wealth amassed from dealing with the old regime fell suspect, and thus were arrested, tried and executed for their complicity. Foremost amongst the reversals done by the Drovikallum was an initial alliance with the worshippers of Tiamat, the followers of the Governess of Gust, an enigmatic figure known only as the Dark Lady. One such follower was the last Matron Mother of the old ways, Zeirra Blacklighter, a distant relative of the Arch-Necromancer Vorhing. Zeirra escaped to the surface as others had, carrying her infant daughter to exile in the shifting sands of the Deep Desert of the Symballan Empire. There she grew old and bitter, and her daughter grew up knowing nothing of the UnderDark.
Princess Illandra Blacklighter learned her mother's adopted religion, the worship of Dragons, and the diabolic Goddess Tiamat. She learned to be quiet, manipulative, seductive, and to blend in with the society around her, even though her deep purple skin tone would easily give her away as Drow. But it was a time when the Drovik were becoming more easily accepted on the surface world, a fact she used to her advantage. She left her mother to die alone in the desert, and began her long trek to the court of the Dragon Emperor Nordrage, the mighty fortress of Chia'Khan. There she saw the Blue King, Theron the Lord of the Maelstrom, and fell madly in lust with the majesty and power of the Master of Storms. She heard the battle in the distance as he destroyed the Gryphonship and shattered the threat of the Silver Gryphon,... for a time. As an acolyte of Chia'Khan she wept when she heard the news of his death at the hands of his traitorous ex-wife, Queen Aurora, and the villainous Carellonian Queen, Amanda. When the long draconic trek was completed, and her new status as a Dragonmaster was conferred, she swore vengeance and set out to bring about the downfall of those who had destroyed her liege. In her travels, she befriended a Symballan mentalist. The two became lovers, having a similar view of a much needed re-calibration of the kingdoms of Callona. At length, they would join with a band of women in a magical fortress in the northern stretches of the Central Barriers, not far from where Mollasar had emerged over a century before. Illandra would become the Dragonmaster of The Harpies, but her fate did not begin or end with theirs.
