Description

These flowers were growing on the vine that separates our place from the home of the NFH (neighbours from hell). They were growing on the same vine that our neighbours chopped to expose the nest of robins. After the robins left, the vine, I suppose rather healthy at this time with the added pruning, produced one bunch of flowers. There were no other flowers on this vine, but the ironic part of this is that these flowers are growing right under where the nest used to be and on OUR SIDE! Nowhere else. I know they planted this vine against the fence so that it would produce these wonderful blooms for the world to admire. But the vine grew between the fence boards and is on our side as well. I took this picture because I knew the flowers wouldn't be around long, and I was right. The next day, while we were out, the NFH must have come over to OUR SIDE and cut them off. I have a feeling it annoyed them. It has been a few weeks since these flowers appeared and just as quickly disappeared but now, in a different spot on the vine, are more flowers ... on OUR SIDE, again. I don't try and get back at these people or play any nasty tricks on them. We just ignore them and let them go. Over the years we have learned that it's not worth the aggravation. Besides, nature does it for me ... in small but sweet victories. Thanks for viewing. Pat * * * * * * *

Well I'm certainly glad you got to the blooms before those b**s did ... a wonderful photograph, my friend. I can't believe they had the cheek to cut something growing on your side of the fence!!! If it happened in the UK they'd lose something a little more personal than vine blooms [at least HE would]. Your strategy is, of course, much more sensible ... and your victory all the sweeter for it.

These flowers sure have spunk, as we realize in your account and witness in your photo. The photo proves that unyielding delicacy and self-confident grace are the most potent of assertions in a world too prevalent with "neighbours from hell." It's a comforting and inspiring tale you have ongoing here, pat, and I find myself cheering both these plants and your defiance-in- patience with these pointless neighbours of yours. Please keep us involved and further inspired in your tale of the flowers who wouldn't go away. I'm putting my money on the flowers of explosive radiance, a quality which you too seem to possess.

Oh yea great image, nature does have a way of getting even. But me, I would plant some fast growing morning glories along the property line close to some of his trees. Give it a couple years to get up into the tops, wahooooo them buggers will be down into Texas in a decade.

The way I see it, Pat, is that they got the real blooms which will wither and die all too soon, but you captured them for eternal enjoyment and self-satisfaction! ;) Yeah...I think we all have a NFH at one point! LOL Mine is a yipey little dog that I've envisioned being fed to the other neighbor's Rottie! LOL

Beautiful flowers and so fitting that you got the chance to "stop to smell them". I really enjoy your captions - how you set such a nice tone for these photos - thanks again. A treat for the eyes AND the soul.
