Description
This is by far the smallest bug I have captured with any clarity. This little guy was just barely less than 4 millimetres long. (I had a ruler handy) :)
The macro lens is long and it blocks the flash. Normally, the bottom half of the shot is dark from the shadow of the lens. To remedy this, I put my arm up close to the wall to deflect light into the shadowed area. Worked like a charm.

Well, tiny or not, he looks like he can bite/sting! brrr Excellent trick with the arm... (quite a hairy one, too) :D Superbly done. A stunning macro.

Actually, the thing pricked my skin a few times and I was a little suprised. It doesn't look like a stinging bug...but then when I saw the photo I was even more suprised to see the size of it's long, pointy, and sharp proboscis.

Excellent trick with the flash there Matt !! This is probably a plant bug, they suck plant juices. Could also be an assasin bug though, better watch it ;o) Excellent work here !!
herbstliebe
oh my god, what's that? absolutly fantastic and technically perfect!

Yes a really good shot, and you need a reflector or a round macroflash to avoid shadows in one such shot. And the bug isnt too good for you herbstliebe, im pretty certain its a bug that eats sap from plants (the green colour it got suggest it spends it days in plants) with that long beak/stinger. So the herbs gets no love from that bug. :)
