Description

An exercise in the basics before I go back to the beach scene. Intended just for study, but I liked the WM terrain, and tried the sky and surfaces from scratch, instead of using a preset. Haven't thrown the pc out the window yet, tho I was tempted a time or two! Hopefully there is just the slightest hint that I am trying to grasp the basics of TG. Thanks so much for your kind and constructive comments on the first two images. I really appreciate it, y'all!! And thanks very much for looking, :)Maria

I don't know if it was the effect you were going for or not, but it almost looks like algae being carried along in the water. Nice lighting and choice of colors for the sky.

I am seeing your progress with TG- you are grasping many elements of this quickly- this one has an almost "paint" texture. Interesting to watch how many things you are learning to manipulate at once.

Don't throw the PC out the window. We want to see more of your work as you progress with TG. Keep experimenting and happy rendering.

I am working now with Terragen for about 4 weeks, and I think I am going through the same things you are going through, several times I get crazy and yes I want to throw my puter also out of the window, but I also remembered I had this when I played with UF the first times, and I am still learning ;)Viewing your image I only can say,you are learning very, very quick!A wonderful landscape, your surfaces are incredible beautiful, and the atmosphere is Superb,I am really looking forward to see more!Keep them going Maria :)

Excellent pov, mood and surface; atmo and water are nice too - you may have oversharpened in post

super terrain and POV, great surface, water and atmo/lighting!The picture much better to work if it would be not so much sharpened! Great work!

I'll side with Petra on the sharpening factor (I can almost hear the slap of your hand on your forehead...) But the POV & colors are very well done. Word to the wise - be careful with 3D clouds - the best you can do are special FX, not realism. These are pretty good, tho!

Looks cool! Yes, that terrain is cool, and I really like the atmosphere glow. Nice work! (:

This is a perfect POV. You might consider less sharpening; also, try 2D clouds just to see what they will look like. You have put together an excellent composition here Maria.

The sky is absolutely gorgeous and I really like the composition. The surface appears to be real grainy. Unfortunately I can't offer much advice for fixing that though as I struggle myself to achieve good surface textures. You're doing great Maria!

Great looking sky, I love playing the lighting. To me that is the best part because my terrains are always very basic. Nice texture on the water, it really looks like something is growing and floating on it. Really cool looking work!

I love the colors in this. And the textures...they are so unusual. This is beautiful.

You have a great eye for colors, Maria. This (oversharpened) image has an impressionistic quality that I admire a lot. How much to sharpen is something I have struggled with for a long time but I have a system now. If you want to know my (not so) secret, let me know. BTW Great work.

Very nice colors of the sky and athmo :) To others suggests I would add lowering a bit 'distort by the terrain' for the water... And one tip: for this kind of scene, lower a gamma value (in render options), and raise the sun power and exposition in camera settings.

Not knowing a thing about terragen myself, I'd say you have great grasp. What strikes me is the sense of river flowing, the atmosphere and lighting are excellent as is the POV.
