Description
Well, after writing to Renderosity to make sure my story was "acceptable" to publish, and not getting back a negative response, I decided to take my chances and post it. It's of a touchy nature, but keep in mind this is merely fictional. While all based on true-life facts, the names of the characters have been changed, and a few of the incidents have been "scaled down" so to speak, so as to not be overly graphic.
Please remember when you read this story, that this stuff really does happen to children everyday in our world. Only YOU can help prevent Child Abuse. YOU can make a difference. If you don't know how, visit your local police department, and they can help you find programs to help abusers, and support programs for those who would just like to make a difference.
This is the first chapter in my book titled "Courage" (name subject to change, of course...lol.)

A superb written piece. VOTE. As the oldest(son)of nine children (with five, beloved sisters) I relate immensely to Andrew. Luckily, I had two loving parents. My philosophy on life is when people turn 18 they should be able to make their own free choices. Up until that, I think society owes our young much more than it presently collectively gives. We say children are our most important resource and priority. I sometimes have to wonder, unfortunately. Keep up the good fight.

made me cry. thank YOU for having the courage to upload this. I don't know why it wouldn't be acceptable. Child abuse shouldn't be hidden. we need to speak openly about it to stop this horrible, horrible crime! Yes, this stuff happens every single day. People CAN make a difference. I would like to add to your words. hope it's ok. When a child tells you they're being hurt, believe them! When a child comes to school crying every day, talk to her. find out why. abused children are looking for someone to rescue them from their nightmare. Their souls are being murdered. their bodies, beaten and pounded....raped and sodomized. you CAN make a difference!! vote!

Excellent work! I cried, and cried! This was beautifully written, and it touched on more than child abuse which indeed needs to be stopped, but also spousal abuse which also needs to be stopped! Very well done!!! V

Thank you John for sendding me the link and Heather I too am just in tears with this story so horrible yet so very true, everyone has to ask themselves how long are any of us going to let child abuse continue, Obviously the father loved his kids the so called mother needs a good padded cell somewhere all so true how many times must we see or hear about something like this till we all do something about it. Child abuse is so high and out of control it is NOT even laughable the pain children go through these days are horrifing. Thank you for up loading this Child Abuse has to be stopped and John is right this so needed to published. vote and please let us know when our book is published

What is so sad about this is that sometimes they don't make it. If it isn't addressed, it is passed on and on and on, like a horrible hereditary disease. You are only as sick as your secrets. Lets expose this everywhere and any way we can. Thank you for putting this in the spotlight.

I usually can't read stories about child abuse..It is so horrendous to me. This was very well written and needs to be read because it is such a CRIME to hurt an innocent child that can't even understand what is happening to them.It is the lowest thing a human being can do. V

A terrible history that regrettably very frequently repeats because of the alcohol, I don't usually read histories, but this had had the particularity of moving me a lot for the force of the story. Vote

I am one of those that John sent this link to, and I am so very glad he did. This story is just so moving and so powerful, and so very very true. Being one who suffered the pain of child abuse as I was growing up, this story hit really close to home. I do hope you will continue on with it and get it published and out there in the world for everyone to read because THIS is a story that needs to be told. You are one amazing and strong lady :-)

I've been meaning to read this for a while, and I'm glad now that I found the time! This is so wonderfully written; such a heart wrenching portrayal. Very powerful construction. I am about to read the other two posts now.
