Everywhere people with camera's find their way in this world to make their shots. I like the art of taking realistic pictures, because it provides a way to show how I experience this world. It is a way for other people to look through my eyes.Nature ... exists primarily for her face, her look, her appeals to the heart and the imaginationGeorge MacDonaldJan-Carel Vierbergen
Picture courtesy of Ruut WegmanBIOIt is all in the family: love for hiking in the nature. Since my childhood I'm used to walk with father, brothers, cousins, etc., and take pictures (Minolta X-700 with 28-70 mm and 100-300 mm zoom) of what I see. I grew up in Ede (The Netherlands), studied Electrical Engineering in Eindhoven and I am working now as Coordinator e-learning at the Christelijke Hogeschool Ede (http://www.che.nl) where I implement digital assessments for students and assist students in DTP and creating websites.
Since I know little about photographing as well as computer science it was not difficult to find ways for putting images on the web. The only thing to look for now is to find ways for showing the slides in a convenient way. I tried already something at http://www.che.nl/users/jcv (Dutch only, click at Dia's van de natuur in Nederland en de Alpen), but this platform provides good means to share my pictures with others.
I hope you enjoy this!

Well, not only America offers such landscapes. Great view, great shot!

It's nice to know this view is not forbidden. The effort you've taken has openned a window to those who trust your leadership. Having a change portrayed here avoids the overly harsh fixation on only one possible way of portraying this point of view. These are not "errors", just one day's aging.

This is fabulous scenery. I am very afraid of heights! I dare not look over that cliff! I am quite happy to look at your excellent picture. Well done.

Forbidding, rugged landscapes, Jan-Carel. Both shots give one perspective on our place in the universe. This oblique, thrust up section shows the endless creation of our land. This is not very new, however, I think. Such views are inspiring. Thanks, John.

Rather amazing how the light changes the color and looks of the terrain. And what terrain! Thanks for sharing this.

gasp The perspective of this shot feels as if you have taken it from a very high ridge (judging from the smallness of the trees) and yet somehow I feel as if I'm VERY close to that limestone...almost close enough for touching. I am flying overhead now, swooping to first pick up some of that Swiss chocolate dive bomb...greedily snatching some from your hands then going in to land on that uppermost point to look out at the magnificent vista before me. I enjoy feeling the hard, cool limestone. I wonder about what caves might lie below. And as i feel the vibrations in the limestone, i realize what survives in the harshest conditions are very, very special. They are the strongest, the heartiest, those which are capable of enduring the worst nature has to offer. Magnificent captures, both of them!!! Lighting and shadows are wonderful and the horizon...incredible!

I cannot say more than Chantal! I know that she's addicted to mountains like I am. And for sure it's the same for you... Those 2 images had the same effect on me than it seems they had on her... This is really spectacular!!! Next time you come close to Geneva, give me a call!!
