Description
Working on another painting today, I needed a shell. Not being able to find the one I wanted, I remembered I'd included it in a study some years back and, fortunately, found it. I like this study, but find it far too red, which makes my head hurt, and the fabric was a shirt that belonged to someone I really don't like, so that makes it hurt more *L*

Superb Painting And I Luv The ColoursWardXmodem
Feel free to dig up any other past (or present) treasures, very nice. Not very realistic though, I can't see the artist reflected in the pot like I could in a photograph (haha)... and the red is A-OK by me.

Fabulous reflections! Beautiful work!!!

Pity that it's colour and memory should hurt you, because aside from that you have the beginnings of a very interesting study piece, especially the teapot with its beautifully painted reflections, warped in its curved belly. I also love the mother-of-pearl colours in the inside of the shell. hugs

It is very red! Powerful colour but you balanced it beautifully with the delicate colour inside the shell, I love that! You have some really nice detail work in this too, good work as always Cass ; )

impressed utterly. oh dear...again you make my words unable to tell about my admire. And I find that motherpearl shell inside simply fantastic.. being a red lover, personally I adore the colouring of this fully (though I know red hurts you). What can I say? you always make my eyes greedy for the beauty you come to create so sensationally :)

luv the reflective work ...don't find the red too much here but it is your thoughts on it that matter most... maybe a study in exorcising old ghosts :]

Oh man also impressed! I used to love/hate doing these still-lives for A Level Art class over a decade ago, in fact one of the best things I ever did in pencil was one with lots of subtle reflections, pity the school had a policy of keeping all the best stuff for their collection :P I totally get why you have a love/hate relationship with this one, such awful memories indelibly stamped onto it, but in itself it's a brilliant study, SO well observed hugs, thank you so much for sharing this with us Cass, better late than never L ;-)

WOW a complex study, beautifully done, I agree with you about the red, it is very powerful but seems to be balanced here by the tones in the metal pot, fantastic!

You have proven to be not only incredibly talented, but also incredibly patient in this work Cassie. I think it would have driven me nuts long before I could have even come close to completion! Fantastic work my dear (as ALWAYS).... you RULE!

At least in digital form you could desaturate the red a degree. I'm always fascinated by reflections and this one is most intreging. The central part seems to suggest the place where it was painted...

This looks very Japanese to me! I guess it's that beautiful and intense red mixed with the flowers pattern! Beautiful piece dear Cass! :)

I love it. Red is my favorite color, and the reflections are great. Of course, I've never seen anything of yours that I DIDN'T like!

This is one proof of your infinite talent! The shapes and composition ar so captivating. I can see why the red hurts - it's aggressive and hard; but it has to be there! with that red this would be a nice, utterly well painted still life - now it has power of bull fights; and also the violence of them. Very impressive, Cassie. hugs

Thanks for digging this out and sharing with us. I was only looking at reflections the other day marvelling at the mini distorted worlds that lay within.
