Description

This side of the Grimselsee the sunbathing track leads us further to the west. On the south side of the lake there will be no sun for a long time, up to somewhere in spring. This area (Aarmassiv) consists of mainly bedrock/gneis and it has its own remarkable shapes. It is the east-west line of the central Alps (causing the climate barrier due to high elevated ridges, up to more than 4,200 meters, 13,800 feet). On this altitude most of the rocks are covered with yellow lichens (but not all as you can see here, with the white lichens on the rocks). The Sculptor left it unfinished, intentionally - nature is dynamic, always on the move. How will this landscape be after 1,000 years? Will glaciers still populate the Alps? And what will man change in this landscape? I don't know, but for now I invite you just to enjoy the landscape before we move on. Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 70 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

Wow! This place is magnificent! I think instantly of sand dunes...i guess because they are so white like this. i can't help but feel the ocean here! LOL! strange, i know! but even the trees, rocks and landscape feel like sea is close...even without palms. Wild horses run here? i must need more coffee this morning...my associations seem strange. i love to sit and enjoy sun and this place is a fabulous place to do that! so nice! yes. How will this place change in 1,000 years? interesting questions. but our photos will be left behind and perhaps preserved. jan-carel, remember that image you took in Switzerland...of that hotel. you showed how it looked past & present. i would be interested to see more like that...curious what changes have occurred in just a decade or two. I really enjoy this fabulous capture which leads my imagination many places! vote!

This looks like a lake of milk, or chalky water, Jan-Carel. Too far away from Egypt for Queen Cleopatra to bathe in!

The water is the most remarkable colour, at first I thought it was solid ice...or is it?? I love the angle of view, and the details/textures in the vegetation. Amazing photo =)

Standing here one does not need to ask why it was made only to enjoy the sunlit glimpses of formation hidden now by trees not much older than yourself.

Is it a collection of mountainside in the water making it that colour! It's an excellent shot.

Super POV. The angle down the mountainside really lends impact. The water almost look like dirty milk, neato!

What I really like in this picture is the way you've took it...seeing the white area I thought the image is ending, but the lake is breaking and the mountain takes our breath away...
