Everywhere people with camera's find their way in this world to make their shots. I like the art of taking realistic pictures, because it provides a way to show how I experience this world. It is a way for other people to look through my eyes.Nature ... exists primarily for her face, her look, her appeals to the heart and the imaginationGeorge MacDonaldJan-Carel Vierbergen
Picture courtesy of Ruut WegmanBIOIt is all in the family: love for hiking in the nature. Since my childhood I'm used to walk with father, brothers, cousins, etc., and take pictures (Minolta X-700 with 28-70 mm and 100-300 mm zoom) of what I see. I grew up in Ede (The Netherlands), studied Electrical Engineering in Eindhoven and I am working now as Coordinator e-learning at the Christelijke Hogeschool Ede (http://www.che.nl) where I implement digital assessments for students and assist students in DTP and creating websites.
Since I know little about photographing as well as computer science it was not difficult to find ways for putting images on the web. The only thing to look for now is to find ways for showing the slides in a convenient way. I tried already something at http://www.che.nl/users/jcv (Dutch only, click at Dia's van de natuur in Nederland en de Alpen), but this platform provides good means to share my pictures with others.
I hope you enjoy this!

Tough turf! Excellent composition and "lighting." It's always hard to tell from a compressed jpg, but it appears to have exceeded the exposure range of the film. some of the snow areas are just white areas with no detail in them and the large shadow area on the left is similarly featureless. Hopefully the original negative contains information in these areas and with appropriate printing will give a better picture. One way to tackle scenes with such extreme contrast is with pre-exposure. This would enable you to expose for the snow textures and still retain good shadow detail. HTH

Wow! look at those reflections!!! Beautiful!!!! I really love the POV in this one because i feel like i'm right in the middle of that glacier milk. Hmmm...you must have been right there on the edge of bank i guess! looks like you've reached a dead-end and we can go no further...unless, of course, the water is shallow there at the edges...might have to get wet feet to continue! i sure to love the yellow bank with its rocks and stones! fantastic scene, Jan-Carel! would love to see that movie too!

Classic mountain photography from the master once again... hats off to Jan. There was a natural history series on BBC recently that showed a time laps sequence of a glacier, amazing to watch it running down hill at speed. They also drilled down and put a microphone inside the ice.....very scary noises they make too. This is a brilliant shot, you are very lucky to have such clear views of this beautiful range, well done.
