Description

Close to the border of France and Luxembourg (somewhere around Metz) we see these leafless trees with green spheres. A closer look reveals these are bunches of european mistletoe (Viscum album), an evergreen parasite. Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 35 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

It must be a river of Listerine to give us kissing sweet breath. The mountains are so close this time of year don't you think? Very rugged, manly look for tired mountaineers.

Very nicely done composition, wonderful detail and sharpness - the diagonal composition makes the scene a bit more dynamic as do the ducks in the corner. Bravo, well done!

They may be a parasite, but make for neat subject matter. Great photo Jan!

An intriguing shot, Jan-Carel. However I fear an alien infestation ( posing as mistletoe ) as the three ducks seem in a hurry to leave the scene!!. Regards, whimsically, John.

an evergreen parasite???? no way!!! As soon as i saw this tree, i remembered a tree i saw this spring in the park just a few miles from me. It looked verrrrry similar to this except things in the trees were smaller. come to think of it, they might have been nuts of some kind. walnuts? anway, sorry for rambling! LOL! this image is just what i needed to see!!! a gorgeous blue sky on a sunny day!!! doesn't look to warm, but that's ok as long as there's sun! as i look, i keep wondering what's beyond those trees. so unusual not to see mountains in the horizon in your images! LOL! so it's makes me even doubly curious about it! the sky is and reflections in the water are magnificent, and and this spot would be perfect for a picnic i think!!! LMAO at jgkane's comment!!! totally excellent and beautiful image, Jan-Carel!

Parasites eh...we have parasites here that attack our trees as well. They are cute little vines when they are small, but when they mature they can strangle the whole tree in a couple of years...tourists like to keep them as potted plants...if they only knew...! Very pleasing image, water is divine!

Parasites indeed, be careful not to stand under that tree for too long, you know the tradition pertaining to mistletoe??? You might get kissed by some wild nymphs in the forest!! LOL I really like the blue in the water, sooo deep blue. excellent image Jan-Carel!!!!!

a wonderful capture and impression of this view! two month ago in east Germany I saw many of such trees with the mistletoe standing in long rows and I heard that in the past people were picking something out of the trees and took it to the pharmacy! very interesting shot! ;o)))

as soon as I saw the trees with clumps I thought mistletoe kisses...I could use a kiss from a forest nymph...seen any?
