Description

Happy Chinese New Year ~ The year of the rooster ~ I had to dig deep into the archives for this one. At our first house I build a small pond and filled it with water lilies and other stream plants. Even brought in wild sunfish, tree frogs and dragonfly larva, all of which thrived. The pond probably does not exists anymore since we moved eight years ago. After St. Valentine I'll be posting 2-3 times a week, as I prepare a new series of images not involving flowers. Did however go out this morning to check on my tulips and especially the irises that have all been replanted a couple of months ago. It is still cold in California, though the sun is out and in full force today. Thank you letting me share with you my passion for these flowers this passed week. I am especially grateful for all the comments received and the many friends I have made. Thank you for stopping by. Vielen dank das Sie vorbei gekommen sind. Grazie Technical Information: CAMERA: Canon with 50mm Macro, exposure range f16 hand held FILM: Fuji-Sensia 100 ASA, processed normal LIGHT: Natural sunlight SEPARATION: Nikon LS-2000 scanner, full frame PHOTOSHOP NOTES: No adjustments in Levels, Curves or Contrast. A gradation screen was applied underneath the foremost lily pad to tone down the highlights. Background was blurred using Gaussian blur.

Great story to go with this wonderful image. More visual poetry my friend! The entire image seem chrysaline to me, like a stained glass window. BEAUTIFUL!

Your passion is obvious when it comes to flowers and you represent them with class and style. I bet this pond was a beautiful place to sit and relax next to, probably one of the reasons you built it. I also love the light play on the lily.

a beautifully constrasted flower shot :) I love the contrast of light first, and the contrast of the background with this vivid coloured lily, and the spot of sun bathing the scene :)) A great pleasure, thanks !!

I'll miss all your flowers! But I look forward to your next series. The light and darkness effect here makes a gorgeous waterlilly even more beautiful. Intense colours, beautifully captured! lol, I'm going to have a good year hopefully, cuz I'm a Rooster! =)
