Pink Floyd 1979! Just got to live the compo in this one, wonderful scene, and these stome walls that we take for granted are indeed wonderful pieces of work.

An outstanding place and image. You have such a fine eye for dramatic shots. And again I wonder, who in the world builds all those amazing walls?

Nice shot, Anthony. From the metal 'stobs' or posts ( for the barbed wire ), this wall has been refurbished sometime in the past 25 - 30 years. When I helped build my gran's back up, we used wooden 'stobs' and I got to use the 'mel', a 28lb / 13kg sledgehammer, to pound them into the ground. Who built these 'dry-stane-dykes' or dry stone walls? Ordinary men and youths, and the occasional young lady too. Usually during the school holidays, but not at harvest time. My gran had a neighbour ( an octogenarian retired policeman from New York PD ) who was a great shepherd, and 'an oul' haun'/ an old hand / expert at building the stone boundary walls. Regards, John.

It reminds me my "Jura mountains". They look like this, these times. This shot is totally gorgeous, the perspective with the wall is fanstastic. My sincere compliments!

Fantastic photo and composition. It's freezing up there.Walls are always interesting. I love the feeling of that sheer drop although I would not like to be there.lol.

Dry stone walls do not feature in the landscape in which I live now, but years ago I lived 2 mins from Derbyshire where they are a common sight. Excellent photo Anthony.

We call the stobs 'star pickets' in Aus. I'm assuming the safest way up is along the fenceline. That's what I used to do in deep snow in the Lake District anyway. Cheers... aye lad a bonny fence!
