Description

Happy Birthday Valentina aka NataLibera70 I end this series of flowers with the same image that started it, only now, the flower graces us with its elegant colours. This pink iris was developed to honour Kay Nelson, who serves as registrar for the international iris registry, under the auspices of the American Iris Society. Thank you for stopping by. Vielen dank das Sie vorbei gekommen sind. Grazie Technical Information: CAMERA: Canon with 50mm Macro, exposure f16 on tripod FILM: Fuji-Sensia 100 ASA, processed normal LIGHT: Norman 1250 single light with a mini softbox and blocking of the light so that it focuses upon the flowers beard and standard haft. SEPARATION: Nikon LS-2000 scanner, full frame PHOTOSHOP NOTES: There are five layers, including the background. Top layer is the photograph set to 'multiple' at 100%. The layer beneath is a duplicate of the flower with the artistic filter 'dry brush' set to 6/4/2 applied to the image and the layer set to 'multiple' and opacity 65%. Third layer of this image had another artistic filter applied. Watercolour with a setting of 9/1/1/ and set to 'darken' at 35%. Final layer is a repeat of the top layer and provides a rich deep tone, as it is set to 'normal' at 35%. No retouching or further adjustment using curves or levels.

The colour is so muted and elegant. Amazing how nature and its own unique form can fill our emotions. Lovely Kay reminds me of a time long ago. Thankyou, for your kind words regarding Midnight in Ottawa. Have a good one!!

Such a warm and inviting capture. A very classic capture...but reading your process is what I admire most. Knowing that what I see is not what came straight out of the camera, but with knowledge and some creative thinking you arrived at a most beautiful photograph. Thank you Egmont for all that you share. You are an inspiration to us that have a true love of what we capture and the tools we use.

Great finale to the series...I wish FarScape had had such a good ending. ;) Beautiful Iris, it is as if painted itself into existence. Thanks for sharing your method with us....I find that very helpful.

Beautifully romantic. Gorgeous work on making the light more subtle...that kind of postwork would have taken me a while (which is why I find Photoshop Elements a blessing, it really does make postwork easier). Regardless of postwork, this is a stunningly detailed macro =)
