Description

First Bloom J. M. Strother Sunlit heads of yellow In stark contrast to the dun Of the winter mulch. Brave first bloomers, Daring the killer frosts. Tiny crocus, yet bold, Harbingers of spring. You rise up to give me hope In February's reluctant warmth, That spring is indeed on the way. You rise up, among your tiny leaves of green To proclaim to the world That life goes on.

Excellent piece. Reminds me of Bette Midler's song, "The Rose". My heart yearns for those two most precious of springtime words, ''PLAY BALL!". WINK.
