Description

This is dedicated to My father My hero . I had to share this cause it is my favorite picture ever . It to me is a picture of joy and the ability to drop everything and play. I started to do this up a bit to restore but then thought - no I need to leave it just as I remember it . This picture was taken in Rome- Nov 1959. When I was a young child it used to hang on my Grandparents wall ...I would walk down the hall and stare up at it and love the kitty playing with him . My Father was always so playful like this kitten. He had an infectious smile and a charm that infected anyone who came near...and he would drop anything for anyone to help or listen anytime. My DAD worked in aerospace and helped design Rockets and aircraft..later he had his own construction business . He was a great watercolor painter. He did remodeling on houses and built great structures . His mark is left to this day all over southern California . He even worked on Frank Lloyd Wright homes in Hollywood -and knew personally and was a friend to many famous people like Pat Boone, Dean Jones and Jack Hayford. When he remodeled homes he had to tear apart houses the asbestos got to him and gave him stomach cancer( lymphoma ) and cut his life short at 64. We lost him recently on Fathers Day ..what a day to go home to his heavenly Father... I was alone with him one early morning when he died. I remember holding his big strong hands after he died, and thinking how hard they had worked to give our family such a beautiful life . and wondrous world . He loved beauty and nature and sometimes we would spend all summer camping and taking long walks through forresty places I miss him so much it hurts . and wanted to share this today . Thanks for taking the time to look. kimarie ♥

Very kind comments. I personally love this picture & reminds me of the one I have of my grandfather that exudes the same feeling you described about your father. Reading your comments touched my heart. Really!! Good idea to share it with us!

sorry ............ you actually made tears come into my eyes now, and its hard to look at what I am typing - maybe not so cheerful to write in a comment, but it touched me deeply, both this wonderful memorable photo and even more your story. I still have my parents, but yes they are getting older and I hope they stay healthy for a long time. THank you for opening this part of your life to us, you are wonderful.

Being an ex-sailor, I recognize the rate patch as an Electrician's Mate, or possibly Interior Communications Electrician, which probably explains the "E" patch on his upper right sleeve. Love the emotion this pic shows! []/;^)
