Description

This is dedicated to My father My hero . I had to share this cause it is my favorite picture ever . It to me is a picture of joy and the ability to drop everything and play. I started to do this up a bit to restore but then thought - no I need to leave it just as I remember it . This picture was taken in Rome- Nov 1959. When I was a young child it used to hang on my Grandparents wall ...I would walk down the hall and stare up at it and love the kitty playing with him . My Father was always so playful like this kitten. He had an infectious smile and a charm that infected anyone who came near...and he would drop anything for anyone to help or listen anytime. My DAD worked in aerospace and helped design Rockets and aircraft..later he had his own construction business . He was a great watercolor painter. He did remodeling on houses and built great structures . His mark is left to this day all over southern California . He even worked on Frank Lloyd Wright homes in Hollywood -and knew personally and was a friend to many famous people like Pat Boone, Dean Jones and Jack Hayford. When he remodeled homes he had to tear apart houses the asbestos got to him and gave him stomach cancer( lymphoma ) and cut his life short at 64. We lost him recently on Fathers Day ..what a day to go home to his heavenly Father... I was alone with him one early morning when he died. I remember holding his big strong hands after he died, and thinking how hard they had worked to give our family such a beautiful life . and wondrous world . He loved beauty and nature and sometimes we would spend all summer camping and taking long walks through forresty places I miss him so much it hurts . and wanted to share this today . Thanks for taking the time to look. kimarie ♥

A wonderful portrait of your dad Kimmie, he has a so lovely smile, and we can feel the happiness of his life looking this photograph. I'm shure that your father is very proud of you, about what you are, and what you do. You have a beautiful way to write about him, and your words touch my heart, more than I can expressed here... Thank you to share this portrait and your thoughs with us. Take care of you. Hugs

Your story is beautiful, your feelings even moreso, and the picture just perfect to its time and to the spirit of the father you so loved. It's wonderful that you share mourning through an image of unaltered joy, and with your feelings so deep and honest. Certainly he knows you're carrying his spirit here; and this is but one place you're doing it in your life...And for those of us who were alive in the 50's (I was a little kid then), this picture is picture-perfect, the smile, the look, the play with the cat, the inscription (thank you for leaving it in), even the style of handwriting...it's a snapshot of an entire time and feeling; and a loving and so-positive tribute to a man who lived joy. Many thanks, Kimarie. It's beautiful...

I absolutely LOVE this photo Kimmie. What a handsome man your dad was; and that smile .. omg, how gorgeous. And what makes a man even more wonderful is when he can squat down like this to play with a kitten. It shows his soft side, and no matter what any man says, they all have soft sides. A real man can express it and show it. .... like this. I can't help but notice that awesome camera hanging from his neck. HOW COOL. Hope u are doing well Kimmie; I dont see you very much these days. I hope you are well. Thank u for this link, too ... it allowed me to write to you a little :) HUGS TO YOU.......... XX

WOW !! Talk about bringing tears to the eyes. It is so strange ,but at dinner tonight I was just telling my husband how this coming Monday Feb. 2nd my own dad would have made 60. He passed away this past May of 08 of heart disease. So your "Remembrance" photo really tugged at the heart strings. It is a beautiful remembrance and photo !! :)

I would like to thank you for remembering your father. A great photo. My Dad was in the Navy during World War I and passed away in 1959 while I was aboard an aircraft carrier somewhere in the South China Sea. Your photo brings back both sad and heart warming memories. The kitten adds to the happy part. My Dad had once said he preferred cats to dogs. I have a couple WW I vintage Photos of my Dad. Maybe I should try to fix one up and make it my first up-load to Renderosity. Thanks again.
