Description

My absence these last several days was due to a very bad ear infection and fever, apart from also having poison oak. Not fully recovered yet, but doing much better. I'll try to make my rounds and have a look at your gallery in the next several days while try to catch up around the house as well. Today's offering is the last image in this short series reflecting on the California Oak trees that cover the hills throughout the state. The style of photography applied was trying to capture the technical quality and tones of the great documentary photographer Edward S. Curtis (1868-1952) who gave dignity to the vanishing American Indian. Next Thursday and Saturday's posting will be two more nature studies followed by a series of 'fine art' abstracts, pre-emptying 'Random Subject Matter' for a later date. Thank you for viewing and providing your kind comments to 'Gate to the Middle of Nowhere', the second of three in this series and the one that started it all 'Under a Canopy of Oak Trees'. Thank you for stopping by Vielen dank das Sie vorbei gekommen sind Merci de votre visite Grazie Obrigado Dank u Takk De Please feel free to leave your comments in your native language Bitte f

Back to the forest of poison oak, eh? ;] I'm glad you are feeling better and were able to get this stunning image! The lighting is magnificent, I'm happy you went back! I appreciate reading about your method, especially the gausian blur technique. I'm looking forward to Thursday and Saturday!

Glad to see you back Egmont, this image has a real feel of early morning, nice side lighting and a tonal range giving the image a light airy atmosphere, all set off with your usual duo-tone. Top marks!!

Watch out for thos shiny leaves! Great to see you back there! I like the atmosphere these photos have made (and it's not because I'm looking at the snow outside my window either (chuckles)). The composition of this photo is excellent- you have that tree very well placed in the image to go with the hill in the foreground as well as framing for the trees in the background.

Rich and detailed texture! Wonderful composition! The way the dark shadows on the foreground cover sweep up towards the light. V
