Everywhere people with camera's find their way in this world to make their shots. I like the art of taking realistic pictures, because it provides a way to show how I experience this world. It is a way for other people to look through my eyes.Nature ... exists primarily for her face, her look, her appeals to the heart and the imaginationGeorge MacDonaldJan-Carel Vierbergen
Picture courtesy of Ruut WegmanBIOIt is all in the family: love for hiking in the nature. Since my childhood I'm used to walk with father, brothers, cousins, etc., and take pictures (Minolta X-700 with 28-70 mm and 100-300 mm zoom) of what I see. I grew up in Ede (The Netherlands), studied Electrical Engineering in Eindhoven and I am working now as Coordinator e-learning at the Christelijke Hogeschool Ede (http://www.che.nl) where I implement digital assessments for students and assist students in DTP and creating websites.
Since I know little about photographing as well as computer science it was not difficult to find ways for putting images on the web. The only thing to look for now is to find ways for showing the slides in a convenient way. I tried already something at http://www.che.nl/users/jcv (Dutch only, click at Dia's van de natuur in Nederland en de Alpen), but this platform provides good means to share my pictures with others.
I hope you enjoy this!

marvelous picture! the only place around here to find a view like this is in my freezer. so much sunshine and warm weather, a little ice would be nice. (but just a little) :-)

Wow!!!! Looky here!!! This photo is magical!!! Yes, it does look like fairy-icicles!!!! and i think those must be steps to heaven!!! you know it's funny, but this kind reminds me of a frozen waterfall, except part of this doesn't look frozen. i'm seeing mist or something here. or maybe it's my bad eyes from residual migraine pain??? LOL! it really does look like you've captured motion here!!! anyway, i love this a lot...this stairway to heaven!!!! beautiful capture, jan-carel!

The abstract qualities of this image are great. May I suggest a true B&W as you will achieve a different kind of feel and one that may surprise you! Give it a try, deep rich black and white highlights. V

I always thought Swiss icicles were different than French icicles...ha ha ha ha ha. I just visited a cave nearby recently and the formations look just like these, but they're permanent. Very beautiful!
