Description
Staying in the abandoned Welsh slate mine of the last few days, several of the large chambers had wooden winches for lifting slate blocks onto trucks, so they could be taken out for processing, although it looks as if the rock got its own back here!
This block probably fell from the roof (about 60 feet or 20m high here) after the mine stopped working - otherwise it would have made the miners jump!
[30 second exposure, F8, multiple flashes]
