Description

'Soon Not to Be' Duo-tone ~ April 19, 2005 Comments: The original plan was to start showing something different today. Yet as I received official confirmation of the dynamite factory demolition being April 28 and access denied as of this weekend, attention quickly shifted. There have been already 1225 images collected in the last two months and with Tuesday's bounty of 432 frames, that comes to 1657 photographs, still, there is more ground to be explored. Therefore I shall return each morning this week sifting through the grounds like an archeological detective for the visual finds overlooked earlier. This Thursday, there will be two trips as my friend Bruce accompanies me to do his own research and discovery. So today's offering is a section of the northern exterior grounds. The smaller building to the right houses the two huge furnaces where pipes from the now empty water tower (not shown) run to. The furnaces were featured yesterday with the posting of 'Furnace Nr. 1, North~West Corner'. Technical Information: CAMERA: Sony DSC-V1, Aperature priority setting to f-8, ISO100, EV -.07, Tripod LIGHT: Natural PHOTOSHOP NOTES: Adjustment in Auto Contrast, Auto Levels , Levels and Curves. Conversion to B&W in Channel Mixer/RGB mode. Duo-tone settings have curve alterations and the secondary colour is R151/G132/B115. Final adjustment in brightness/contrast. Thank you for your visit Vielen dank f

Sad and wistful to see these old places go, yet all must make way for progress I suppose. I am glad you are chronicling this place...it sounds like you've made quite a record of it so far. Back the files up on CD!!!! ;o] It looks like you've been conciously arranging your images so they break up into thirds in your last 3 uploads, heheh. I do notice some color abberations in the middle sky at the right, you may want to address that. I look forward to seeing more of this very interesting place.

great and interesting to see the factory as a unit! your capture expresses a deserted mood and shows perfect contrast! good times are gone and now...useless! you saved so many pics that it should be enought for a whole life! ;o)))

My feeling is always that effort should be made to save places like this..... seems to me it would make a wonderful artists enclave or some other sort of thing..... Demolition should always be the last resort... sigh A beautiful shot Egmont.
