Description

No time for church montages today so I thought I would post #01 of a series of 'Dusty old slides'. It is what it says, so please do not complain about the quality. Scanned in from a transparency. Nikon Cool Scan. Colorized in PSP. Location unknown. Date about 1970? I took this with my trusty Minolta SRT101 with standard lens, which is more than I can say about my Minolta Dimage which is useless. 1926 Foden 4 - 6 ton Wagon Works No. 12364 - Reg. No. TW 4207. This wagon was new to E Davenish & Sons of Rayleigh, Essex and was used by them on a contract from the London & North Eastern Railway, carting manure from the stations to market gardens. In 1927 it was sold to A H Stutley of Stevenage for

Wow, definately time travel...I would have put this much earlier, thought the quality is awfully good for an "old" slide. Neat shot and I enjoyed the info. A wonderful old lorry. It reminds me of one of my son's toys: http://www.hollywood-diecast.com/Elizabeth.jpg :) What's wrong with you Dimage Dave?

amazing how we remember things/what we information we store - you obviously carefully kept the information about this truck (or is your memory truly phaenomenal?) but not the date when you took the picture.

Love it! Yes, it looks like it could have been taken back in the late 20's or 30's, but that would make you how old? JK! :P Churches and now cars? Are you a history teacher in real life? Inquiring minds want to know!

So if I understand correctly, a steam truck was being used as recently as 1962? How fascinating, as is the wonderful shot.

The scan was worked really well, very sharp. It 's a very interesting scene, not just for the Foden, but the people and the dog - plus a VERY tantalising structure in the background! (where was the rally?)

Wow, in 1970 I even couldn't say the word photography (lol, born 1967) I know what a ***** work scanning slides is. I certainly have some hundreds of nice slides in my archive , but I really hate scanning them, so the world will never see them :-p (am I lazy ???) Respect Dave, that's really great work here !
