Description

Shot in 1977, these trams are at the National Tramway Museum at Crich in the UK. High up in the heart of Derbyshire overlooking the famous Derwent Valley, the museum is open almost throughout the year. The Tramway Village is a lovingly restored period village that is also home to the National Tramway Museum and its world renowned archives. There are electric trams running every few minutes through the beautiful Period Street, and up and on to open countryside and panoramic views. There is a wide of trams to see - open, closed, double-deck, single-deck, horse drawn, steam and vintage electric. The trams were collected from Prague to Portugal, South Africa to Southampton and New York to Yorkshire. Tram 812 is from Glasgow and was built in 1900. The 59 seater arrived at the museum on 13 August 1963. Tram 189 is from Sheffield and entered service in 1934 and I still have a pen & ink drawing I did of it. The 'Last Tram Week' in Sheffield was 2nd to 8th October 1960. A transparency scanned then colourized in Paint Shop Pro. Other details as yesterday. Pleased you enjoyed yesterdays posting, thank you dear friends.

I'm not a great fan of sepia (or faded pictures), but I think this has worked well, it brings over the period mood quite nicely.
