Description

Vue Infinite and Poser " Only that man who has offered himself entire to the blood of war, who has been to the floor of the pit and seen horror in the round and learned at last that it speaks to his inmost heart, only that man can dance. He never sleeps. He says he will never die. He dances in light and shadow and he is a great favorite. He never sleeps, the judge. He says he will never die." From the "Blood Meredian or the Evening Redness in the West", by Cormac McCarthy. Probably the finest living writer in America.

The perfect illustration to these words. Very sinistre i would say. Hope your mood is better than the one you created here. BTW, i am not interested in dancing. Good i would say at that moment!

Dear Ken, This is something different!! A really powerful image - a descent down the rocks from the fiery sky above. Barefoot and shirtless - powerful symbols. I'll have to check out McCarthy. I used to do a better job of keeping up with literature. Now most of my reading is textbooks, manuals, and the endless flood of journals. Very powerful and revealing words! Very excellnet work, Ken!!! Love, Meredith

I opened my link up, expecting to find another glorious Ken landscape so this is quite a surprise! Outstanding characterization, scene and commentary Ken. With such an Irish name, McCarthy would have to be a significant writer :) Bravo!!!

A fascinating and powerful character who has the stance of a fighter and a dancer. Most intriguing. I really like how you've illustrated the compelling and rather chilling words of McCarthy. Very intense and creative. V. :o) CC

I couldn't finish that book, just to much horror, and after the 20th century, well.... Great image tho, and I can see it does capture the sense of the book - tho proably needs bodies laying about.

Intense and chilling, what a storm of emotions here. The ability to turn emotions on and off in a moment when something needs to be done. It's true he'll never die, which is a shame. Death would be the only rest possible and even then, a soul wouldn't be guaranteed nothingness. Ok, well, I've gone overboard, especially considering I haven't read the book (though I will certainly have to check it out now)... my interpretation could be off - but this seems like a familiar hell. Wonderful illustration and very different from your usual style. Vote!

This seems off the beaten path for you in its subject, not quality. I've not read McCarthy, but from the quote you provided, it seems this man should bear a scar or two, at least, visible from even this distance.
