Description

Ultrafractal 3.02 Here's the image I entered in the last fractal themed challenge and it actually won - woohoo! Thanks, everyone! First time one of mine won, let alone even placed - some amazingly talented artists in those contests! I was lucky to be working on this when the theme was announced. I'd been working toward an impression/vibe like opposing chess pieces. I might tweak this one later and maybe add a dim, planed "chess board" in the light, swirly area at the right. If I can make myself go back to it. I get a bad case of "been there, done that" and have to force myself to redo an image - always too jazzed about whatever new one I'm making - lol. Thanks for stopping by - "rook to king's pawn 2 - checkmate"! :-)

I think this has to be one of the nicest fractals I've ever seen! Not sure exactly why, but for one thing the colours really attract my attention, and then of course there's the difference in textures and the 3D effect.. WOW!

Congratulations Rykk! It deserved to win... in fact I find it difficult to believe that you haven't placed before. This was definitely my favorite in the contest and like Linda said the design and pallete are so pleasing. Well done!

Magnificent! I don't think it needs another layer but you're the artist so it's your call. Beautiful contrasts and forms, I didn't think of a chess game but I think that the title is appropriate. There is certainly a sense of opposition here with both light and dark forces going at it. Maybe a little calming influence coming in from the right as well. Terrific fractal work, thanks for sharing.

"First time one of mine won, let alone even placed - some amazingly talented artists in those contests!"...you're kidding, right? You don't know how good you are at this??? Just ask me, or anyone else who knows your work. This is another example of one that blows me away.
