Description

Just doing some more test renders - and thought this one looked pretty cool. This is also my first DOF render - wrote a little script to work out the distance from the closest poly on the selected actor to the camera and set it all up....probably based on something that Stewer wrote. The cropping of the image is a tad poor because....well I won't go in to it - but yes, it could be better. There is also a slightly harsh shadow on her lower lip, which I'd fix if I was re-rendering. Also, the shadow on her ear is perhaps a touch strong too. I love the way her eyes turned out though! This render uses a bunch of the new P6 lighting features, and something like this just wouldn't be (easily) possible in P5. I'm finding the best results are coming from doing away with IBL and light based AO, and going with more tradition big light sets, ray-traced soft shadows, and AO nodes on materials. Content of the image is from something new we are working on. No postwork.

Paul- The use of DOF makes that one very real, but Posers blurring is to grainy... You know i love VUEs renderengine, it is much better with DOF also. Rendering in very large size and then downscaling helps a lot. The eyes are perfect and the texture on the hat is also excellent. The bumpsetting for the camouflage is to strong on the nose and her left temple i think, but the overall impression is perfect. And as allways overlooked by most people, seems there is more interest in tits than quality.... The morph supports the theme very well, a tough special forces women! Cool work, i like it so much. ~Uwe

Looks like "her" already! Eyes are sublime. Epecially that green and the lacrimals. Nice job on that script. Many have tried and I'm sure it took some time with the renderload. Here's where one of your specmaps would come in nicely on the temples and ears. Did I say the eyes are really something? I set the ears "forward" -1.0 and out a tad with a twist or morph. Really looks good with a shaved head.

Jesus, Paul, that hat is KICK ASS! The texturing is perfect on it. The dirt on the skin, I think, looks almost spot-on (excuse the pun), and you NAILED the eyes here!! Really fantastic job on the eyes... best I've seen!

Eyes are wonderful.....but the skin texture is a bit too much...too hairy for a female, Paul and what is up with the nose texture. That kind of texture should be ont he lips which are soft and have no lip gloss.Only being so critical cause it's you....and your work is great. Love the hat..nice texture there. I agree withyou about lighting...IBls a re good one a few things but overall it's dramatic lighting.we'll talk...... ~m
