Description

Ultrafractal 3.02 "Cry, 'Havok'! and let slip the dogs of war! -- Julius Caesar Act III, Scene I: William Shakespeare -- Also.... from Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country - the war hungry Klingon General Chang (Christopher Plummer ) on a fully cloaked Romulan Bird of Prey to Adm. James T. Kirk aboard the bridge of the Federation starship, Enterprise, stardate 2587.3-ish... :?) "What's so "civil" about war, anyhow"? - Axel Rose, 1992-ish "The "War to end all wars" - WWI - now, how in the heck can a war END war? Seems to me it just creates more resentment down the road - doing something "wrong" to make something else "right" never works. Only love, respect and consideration for each other can end all wars.....IMHO... I thought of a number of things as I made this. First, it looked to me like a scene of trench warfare from WWI - the "mustard gas", color of the spiral "soldiers" uniforms and "bayonettes", Then, when I added some texture to the background, I got sort of the vibe of WWII - the Normandy D-Day invasion. And then I almost named it "Master and Commander" as I got a sea battle vibe from it. Tough image to name - like fractal schizophrenia lol Thanks for stopping by! - please be sure to don your gas masks b4 viewing this! (either because of the mustard gas - or maybe it stinks - lol) BTW - I'm adding this late but - please let me know if you think this is too dark on your monitor. I just calibrated my monitor and it ended up with the brightness MUCH higher than what I had b4.

I see all kinds of things in this one. A ship in rough waters, I see trench war, and several other things. Very gripping image here and extremely well done!

Clouds, halyards, stays and sails on a moonlit night, with menacing spirals. Very dramatic feel.

No quick easy stuff from you, Rick! That would be a bad thing I'm sure! lol! (Unless it was "something you made earlier"! lol!) This is another of your wonderful creations and well worth the wait! No matter the subject matter (war never settled anything as far as I know!), this fractal has so much to look at and to take in, and I love the composition, design, colours of it with that sea impression behind.

Outstanding composition Rick, it does remind me of a painting of my Dutch ancestors famous sea battles, this being the enemies ship of course :)

A powerful image Rick, the blood stained 'flag' is very dramatic. Wonderful composition and use of subdued colours and lighting.

My first thought was that this was a little dark, but after reading the text, one sees that in a state of war, the environment is by nature dark...So this is a very bully image my man...Evoking and sensational...Nice play!

Back when I was in college, during the Viet Nam war, there was a saying going around, "Fighting for peace is like f**king for chastity." I don't know if that's an appropriate analogy or not, but the dogs of war don't seem to have stopped barking any lately. Fantastic work, I'd vote for the sea battle with the storm a raging, the tattered bloodsoaked sails flailing in the wind and screams everywhere as the wounded and dying endure their final moments. Excellent as always and some interesting commentary!

It looks like you brought the red down a little in the red area and up a little everywhere else. Good idea. It adds to the violence. I miss the blue but I am partial to blue. Then you would have had a water scene. No turds here (or there). It looks like you pulled out that unmentionable shade of green. It does look like the sun is low, or obscured by the war maybe? I wish that I had your patients. I'm no expert, but I would call this abstract art.
