Description
I've liked this image for some time and pulled it out of my "archives" to share with you. The way the top fades off into nothingness has always intrigued me. The image is actually turned 180? from the way I photographed it. Somehow it works better this way, at least for me.
Traditionally shot B&W photo on an SLR, film developed and print made by yours truly. Scanned into Photoshop in 48bit color to capture maximum tonal range and manipulate to get what you see here. I'm not sure where the strange color banding comes from in the upper area. The only way I was able to get rid of it was to totally desaturate or colorize the image, which I don't want. There is still a faint band there in either case. It isn't overly objectionable so I'm leaving it as.

"The human mind is not capable of grasping the Universe. We are like a little child entereing a huge library. The walls are covered to the ceilings with books in many different tongues. The child knows that someone must have written these books. It does not know who or how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. But the child notes a definite plan in the arrangement of books--a mysterious order which it does not comprehend, but only dimly suspects."
