Description

Scanning slides from the early ninetees made me think, what did I learn in all those years? I thought, let's start a series where I point out what I learned, hopping from topic to topic. In this way I try to give you insight in my way of learning to shoot. Austria is a beautiful country and after one night in a hotel we hiked into the mountains to travel from hut to hut. I start with this shot, close to the border of Austria and Germany. First thing I asked myself here, what do I see here? What is the object? I got lost in the joy of seeing the mountains and shot this one. OK, it can be stored in the box as a memory, but it does not tell me more than road, meadows, woods and hills. I do not even know what village lies there, we just stopped along the highway to drink something before continuing. Lesson 1 - Shoot the things that are interesting, something that is special, something you imagined to see through your viewfinder that is in some way unique and valuable! Sorry for being behind on commenting in your wonderful galleries - my dental surgery left traces that consume a lot of energy and time - but I'll try to catch up later! The image is beautiful, but lesson 1 is a valuable quote to live by for any photographer. I have to admit I loved it and will always keep it in mind! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ;-)

Even though that sure is a beautiful landscape i certainly have to point out that you sure have come a long way. Not a very interesting compo compared to your later ones. I have a feeling this will become quite a fascinating series. Cant wait for the next lesson #;o) Have a great day and hope you feel better soon.

Good lesson 1! This is what we would term as a record shot - they are of importance only to ourselves, but not for general showing off. It all takes time and practice. I remember when my husband first started to encourage me into looking for a picture rather than just a shot.

Sometimes when I get home and review the days shooting, I'll see my mistake of what I should have been shooting at. Yes, look for that special shot that would be unique and valuable to keep or climb that mountain again to correct your mistakes. Get it right the first time, lol. I'm looking forward for more of this series and lessons. Excellent. Aloha

Valuable information to keep stored while out on a shoot! I think we all have brain lock sometimes when nature is surrounding us. Thanks for you thoughts! Aloha!
