Description

I don't know what pansy see-through glass thing you keep talking about, I said Fish-Tanks! ;] Lieutenant Fins in FT-01, leading Aqua company out of the water onto the pond's shore. And if you're wondering... Yes, that is a cigar in his mouth. Fish smoke, it's common knowledge (don't argue!) Yes indeed.. another double-meaning pic like my last Manual Labor one. What can I say, I'm a freak and like this type of stuff hehe.. This was probably one of the "heaviest" scenes I've ever done, with the grass, and of course all the mech-details on the tank (little bolts, and particularly all the tread-work) the final smoothed scene in RD pushed past 2.2 millon trig-polys :E But was worth it I think, and got some good toony (fish) and mechanical (err.. guess..) experience out of it so it's all good. As always, everything modeled in the free Wings3D, then rendered in RayDream 5.5 and post-worked in Painter 5.5 I've made a thread here in Wings3D section of the R'osity forums **LINK**. Can see the Mesh of the fish there, and I'll post cage/mesh pics of the tank and close-ups etc there as well, but will have to wait a few days to see those as I don't wanna spoil the joke for anyone just yet. Thanks for viewing, comments welcome.

This is fantastic. It's amazing what you've done with the tools you have is more than I've seen others do with more expensive 3D progs. Great work. :)

Love the image, nice fishy. Amazing detail on the dirt, how did you do that? Where did you get that nice texture from?

Thx kenmo. Added a closer view, cropped in more around the fish and FT-01 (http://www.renderosity.com/photos/MSG2/Message2324653.jpg). Fran, texture was from an old texture CD library that came with some app I bought once. I rendered the ground once with a custom made texture (to fit the ground mesh) made from hand-drawn stuff, filters, and cloned together photos etc.. Wasn't good enough though, even at 2048x2048 it was too low-res in spots etc. So I tiled that second seamless dirt photo over the whole ground mesh a bunch of times and rendered it (just it, and tanks etc needed for shadows) again.. then mixed and matched the two ground variants in 2D post-work.. mostly that 2nd photo texture is all over the place, but took it out near the water of course. As well in many other small spots I let the 1rst texture peek through to hide any obvious repeating patterns on the 2nd.. hope that made sense Thx again y'all
