Description
In the center, Fannette Island rises 150 feet from the surface of the lake. This is the only island in Lake Tahoe and has had numerous names over the past 100 years, including Coquette, Baranoff, Dead Man's, Hermit's, and Emerald Isle finally ending with Fanette Island. On the summit of the island is what's know as the "Tea House". This was built in the late 1920's by then-owner, Mrs. Lora Josephine Knight - ok, SHE didn't actually build it, she had Swedish architect Lennart Palme, who was also her nephew by marriage, build it. It's roughly 250 feet square.

Beeeeuuutifl! Outerspace or a place like this is natures best. The perseids are coming and it looks like the moon will set before midnight. Alright!! Hope it's going to be a good one. Last year was. KP

Beautiful picture. Lake Tahoe and the surrounding area is one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. I have a number of pictures of Emerald Isle (that's what it will always be to me!). This is a great one. That lake is so blue.
