hi gabriel, My name is jojo uhmm short for jolene. :S I wanted to ask if i was allowed to use one girl texture on vic or steph in showing my clothing products which i'll provide who's it's from and state that that "ur product is not included" is that ok? :D I wanted to ask first before doing so. thanks a bunch. Jojo

Blackhearted ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 12:30 PM

of course... and id be honored if you used my textures in your promos :) you could just put, in small text at the bottom: 'texture by blackhearted, hair by ______, shoes by ______ not included'. of course you arent required to credit me, or most other merchants, since when you purchase a product from the marketplace you are free to do whatever you want with it - even use it in commercial renders to promote other products... but it would certainly be appreciated by both me and any other merchant whose products you use :) cheers, -gabriel

_Dmitri_ ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 1:02 PM

yeah!!, BTW ur soooo nice! :D. I'm playing with her now... ohhh i wanted to ask since i'm a girl a make-up counts for every outfit ;), would there be any make-up expansion packs for ur previous texture sets? like mix or match lips and etc.. ~eyes Twinkle~ hehe. one more question hone, do you think u would create any textures for mike too? :D thanks for my pain in the ass questions. jojo

Blackhearted ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 1:25 PM

no problem.. :) rio and i just released a free update for my aeris pack, with a bunch of new makeup textures. shes working away on a similar update for selyne as well - and i will also be including a custom head morph target. unfortunately things have been hectic here for us, so im not sure itll be out by christmas.... were moving at the end of the month, and also driving down to richmond, VA to visit rio's folks. as for a mike tex... itll have to wait a while, until i buy a new camera... but its definitely planned. cheers, -gabriel

LadyJaiven ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 1:31 PM

Aeris update ? Where ? :O

Blackhearted ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 1:36 PM

lol.. been updated a while ago. originally, aeris had no makeup textures. rio and i just updated her with several, including MATs, etc... just go to your 'my purchases' and redownload the file... should be named something like 'BH_AERIS_UPDATE2.zip'

LadyJaiven ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 1:39 PM

Oh ok, I already got it.. I bought her after she'd been updated :)

ElorOnceDark ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 5:09 PM

Sounds great Gabriel! I've had this on my wishlist!

_Dmitri_ ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 5:34 PM

I wanted to get a digital camra for a while now, do u just take pictures of ur friends? or in people in general if so what do you say, do u pay them? :D jojo

Blackhearted ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 5:57 PM

friends are great sources for textures... but it depends on what kindof relationship you have with them whether or not youll be comfortable asking them to take photos for textures. as for paying them? hmm.. that depends. for taking photos of rio for a texture, i wouldnt pay her a cent - since the money we make on the tex is for both of us anyways :) but for taking photos of her sister, we agreed to give her $100, since shes a student and could use some money. it all depends on what you want to do with the source material... on the potential i guess. good friends or relatives wont expect any compensation, but if youre doing well with the textures, why not share the wealth? cheers, -gabriel

LadyJaiven ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 6:08 PM

Oh yea, Gabe :) Got a question. The texture for the wings, is that still gonna be available ? :) Thanks :) ~ Jai :O)

Blackhearted ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 6:20 PM

argh, i need to revise that to say that theyll never leave beta stages :( i tried and tried and tried to get them to render properly, but theyre just too messed up. for THAT specific render they are fine, but the wing UV mapping makes it impossible for me to map them properly. the 'feathers' overlap each other, making it impossible for me to map them in deep paint like i did the bodies, by going into projection mode and spraying the crevices with a speckled 'dirt' brush that i made. tried mapping them in photoshop, but they didnt look right and i couldnt get them to match the stone body textures. so in order to get them looking right, id have to re-map the wings... meaning take them and UV Map them over again, and then that opens a whole new can of worms when it comes to distributing the new .obj file of a model made by another merchant :( you know what people should invent? a UV file. like, another 'stripped' .obj file that only stores UV information for a specific object. it doesnt store the actual vertices, just the UV info. then, if present, you could 'override' the UV mapping of the original object. this would make it possible for people to remap a lot of commercial characters/objects, like vicky, mike, stephanie (who DESPERATELY needs a remapping), etc. without running into copyright infringements. just a thought - might be impossible, might not. with all of the things were doing now with cr2s, pz3s, etc: MATs, MORs, delta injection, etc that would have seemed outlandish a year or two ago, who knows? seems feasible that you could somehow get the object info from one .obj file and the UV info from another one... cheers, -gabriel

gabriel, Chin up gabriel, I'm in the same boat with my new project :O I wanted to ask which program did u orginally model the wings in? if so did u use it's UV mapper? I have 3D Studio Max 4... ohhh all i can say is ooooo la la! :D. I was thinking about copy right issue and modeling... i did notice a few items in the past but they where freebies that used previous body suits for vic and etc. creating a full body suit is a daunting task to say the least VIA spine or box modeling. :S is Rio ur Girlfriend or wife? :D that would be cool online renderosity couples :D heh. Actually this my my bf's account he just lost interes and working all the time doesn't help much, 12 hour shifts. :( cya :D Jene

Blackhearted ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 8:42 PM

Rio is my girlfriend, shes been living with me since june. i didnt actually model the wings - thats the problem. if i did, i could remap them in uv mapper and package the remapped version in the package... but the wings are the angelyna wings by sharkey. but yeah, i do most of my modelling in 3dsmax... from all the modellers ive tried, so far max has the most intuitive interface and friendliest workflow. lightwave is a nightmare, for me at least :( i dont know if i can fit any more in the package anyways... the last time i checked it was over 20 megs :( those marble textures and bump maps add up, and they dont compress well because of the colour and detail. cheers, -gabriel

"you know what people should invent? a UV file. like, another 'stripped' .obj file that only stores UV information for a specific object. it doesnt store the actual vertices, just the UV info." Can't use use the .uvs function in UVMapper? It allows you to remap an object to whatever you need. You send out the file, and the person who downloads it has to run it through UVMapper against the original .obj file to get the remapped version of the object. I did that when I remapped Vicki to use Stephanie's texture maps. It's an extra step for purchasers, but it does what I think you're asking for.

Blackhearted ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 10:01 PM

wow, interesting... i have to try that. never tried that feature of uvmapper. the reason i shy away from that sortof thing though is it requires the user to purchase/download another program. sigh, sometimes i have enough problems with tech support for simple things like MAT files and loading morph targets into poser... something like that might be too complicated for some people. though i thank god every day for MAT files... saves customers from having to worry about loading materials right, complex material settings, etc. same goes for MOR files. as for the .uvs being too complicated -- dont get me wrong.. i know that a lot of poser users are pretty knowledgeable. its just that when a large number of people buy something, then you try to keep everything as user-friendly as possible... otherwise you get swamped with dozens of emails every day asking you to walk them through it. and writing a comprehensive readme doesnt always help.. 90% of the time the answers to questions im asked are right there in the readme. and when you include ANOTHER program, a 3rd party program like UVMapper, then you end up being tech support for that program as well... and honestly i dont know an awful lot about UVMapper.. i only use it to UV Map my models and for its remove degenerate facets option. cheers, -gabriel

Crescent ( ) posted Sat, 14 December 2002 at 12:11 AM

If you'd like, I can send you my readme file for my vic2steph .uvs file where I detail how to do the .uvs conversion. It's not hard to do. If it works for you, feel free to steal the text for the wings. You could always put the wings as a bonus freebie, a good old "It's free, but you need to take 2 minutes to get it to work" deal. Cheers!

Blackhearted ( ) posted Sat, 14 December 2002 at 5:35 AM

please do, it would be much appreciated :) ill see what i can do with it, perhaps ill try remapping the wings and putting them out as a freebie.. with 'this product is not supported, use at your own risk' in it. problem is, a lot of people dont read the readme at all :( cheers, -gabriel

_Dmitri_ ( ) posted Sat, 14 December 2002 at 12:10 PM

UVmapper is very nice to use... :) i just use 3ds uv mapper to get the basic mapping done and save it. ~waves bye~ Jene :)

fauve ( ) posted Sat, 14 December 2002 at 5:43 PM

"I did that when I remapped Vicki to use Stephanie's texture maps." Hey, I've been looking for that... is this a freestuff item, Crescent? Where could I find it?
