...holding a camera she took the picture and oddly enuff a strong storm just blew the roof off the temple AND it even flattened all the mountains as far as she could see. So, obviously, she HAD to take a picture of it..lol anyhow, the real reason for this post is to say that IF you have amapi..you can download these files to use in your poser renders as props. The files are still in amapi format (specifically amapi 4..so anyone can open them) and can be exported in your format of choice from amapi. The reason they are still in this format is because the file is smaller than obj, dxf, or 3ds so it saves bandwidth. you can get these models at: http://www.brycetech.com/stufftodelete/greekcolumns.zip (has the two in the background) http://www.brycetech.com/stufftodelete/greekcorinth.zip (has the foreground one) as with all my models..you can use these in any renders as you see fit..ya just cant sell em or distribute them, cause well.. I made them :P have fun BT

brycetech ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 10:47 PM

yep..doric, ionic, corinthian (from back to front) btw sirkite, I didnt design them (the greeks did) I just modeled them I thought they'd add to everyones 'nekkid vicky' picts BT

My favorite Vickie in a temple Is the Parthenon at the Acropolois in Athens, Greece (using doric columns) - but it's in such disrepair! I think there is a model of the Parthenon in a museum in NY of a reconstruction of it but I can't remember which museum. -TJ

I cant download it but out of curiousity...how big of file do those make and how many polys are they?

sirkrite ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 4:37 AM

You still did a great job modeling it. lots of detail. :)

hauksdottir ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 4:49 AM

Yes, those acanthus leaves are nicely done. Very graceful. :)

Phantast ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 5:22 AM

Certainly saves bandwidth if people don't download them because they don't have amapi (or can't be bothered to get it and install it just to be able to read these files) :(

aenaous ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 5:47 AM

Wowthey are the best i'v seen.I'm already planing scenes with then on it! Phantast there is a free version of amapi which is great for start, just search for it.I believe Amapi is the best free modeling programm I have try.

jenay ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 6:18 AM

you can download a free amapi 4.15 at: http://bakhter.com/html/main/amapi4.html http://bakhter.com/Eovia/Amapi_4.15.zip

bikermouse ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 6:31 AM

brycetech, I've made doric columns before but I fear the corinthian one may be beyond me to make for myself at present - I dounloaded both files anyway. I've got Amapi 5.15 that came with Carrara so I should be able to get some use out of these. Thank you, - TJ

galactron22 ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 7:24 AM

Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.

macelene ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 10:27 AM

There is a replica of the greek parthenon in Nashville, TN. It also includes the giant 40ft statue of Athena I believe.

Online Now!

How difficult is it to use Amapi for this purpose if you've never used it before? And question two is for macelene ... where the heck is this replica of the Parthenon in Nashville, I'd love to find that one ... I can drive down the street and look at it of course, but I'd like to have the model. :-)

Hiram ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 1:10 PM

An architect fellow named Yoric Could, when feeling euphoric, Display for selection Three kinds of erection: Corinthian, Ionic, and Doric. BT, these are way cool. Thanks!!

macelene ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 3:10 PM

Sorry I don't remember, it has been several years since I was there. If you live in the area, check the yellow pages for Museaums. It had one inside. I remember I had trouble finding it. Macey

Ah thanks L.D. - next time I'm in Nashville(I seem to end up there every 40 years or so) I'll check it out. I'm sure that there was one in NY City as well, perhaps scaled down a little - wish I could find that website again. anyrate, I bet given time there'll be a full size one in Las Vegas, too - complete with slots, roulette and blackjack tables. - TJ

its simple to just open the file in the free amapi 4 (link above) and export the model in dxf or 3ds format. dxf might be best as it'd keep the file size down (no texture and uv info there) the corinthian model is a bit on the heavy side, has to be to have that much detail in it...in obj format its around 60000 polys exported (only version 6.1 can export in obj format) Im sorry if some think its too much to convert these free models so they can use them. I must totally be insane to expect anyone to do anything on their part to get them...shame on me. Just goes to show, no good deed goes unpunished... makes one wonder if giving things away is really appreciated or if its just a way to get things for free. My deceased father used to say that people not only wanted something for free, they wanted you to deliver it to them... for those that are enjoying the models..'you're very welcome' I want to see some more nude vicky temple images now! ya just cant get enuff of them! lol BT

Tashar59 ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 9:37 PM

Just so you know, I don't mind the file, it gave me a chance to play with amapi. Thanks. You can also export in LWO then import into anim8tor to convert the file to OBJ. Seem to work better. Thank-you again. Tashar 59

and she sez back to me "No, I wanted something bigger, with textures ... and a roof!"

so I sez "like the parthenon?"

and she sez "Yes only bigger - and newer and with those Corinitan Columns Brycetech made!"

so I says back "OK, but hey! Get some eyebrows"

At this point she just glares at me for a long while, her eyes narrowing like a cat focusing in on her prey - finally she blurts out "That's your fault!!!", and walks off in a huff.

So, BT it's not that I don't like the columns, but this is gonna take a while!!!

women what can I say? cant live with em and they're still not legal to hunt lol BT

Sorry if my remarks were considered "punishment". Oh, and here's your Christmas present. And take this wrapping paper to wrap it up in - hey, don't expect me to do it! Seriously, though, I do have Amapi myself, but I find it very unintuitive to work with. Not a program I like.
