This is odd, looks very familiar to anyone who owns Poser 5. There is a face here that I duplicated exactly in the face room. Hummmmmm. Marque

Well that is interesting, same concept too...Sharen

I thought that's where CL got the faceroom plugin from in the beginning.

Ahhhh, makes sense then. Marque

Does FaceGen work with Poser ? "FaceGen Modeller exports to OBJ which is supported by Poser. In addition, Poser 5 contains FaceGen data in the face room. However the Custom Mesh Service and Photo Service products will not work with Poser 5, and Poser 5 cannot read FG files. "

I first saw this program about 18mths ago... I tried to use the demo but it would not run on my system and promptly forgot about it. Helen

I had a girlfriend in high school that went Hummmmmmm..... It startled me a little, at first, but then I started to really like it.

I read in the P5 beta forum that CL licensed from Facegen the database of face scans and the textures (at a low res), but the technology that elaborates them is by Curious Labs.

Philywebrider: You have provided the answer to your own question, it would seem! FaceGen (darned expensive it is too IMHO) could be used to produce head-shaped .OBJ files which you could replace Don/Judy/Posette etc. heads with in the same way as you can replace any body part with a prop. However unless FaceGen happens to use the same number of vertices, in the same location as P5's faceroom (hugely unlikely) can't see any way to cobble together the various morphs without redesigning them all (and I mean all!) even assuming one could get the head to line up nicely with the neck. We're stuck with Don and Judy for the face room, unless CL feel like offering support for more (and I'd rather Don & Judy support were better first - a choice of texture output sizes above 512 * 512, for example).

@who3d, you missed the point of Phillywebriders post, what he typed came directly from the Face Gen FAQ. So it seems Face Gen tech is the poser Face room. http://www.facegen.com/faq.htm#poser

The facegen stuff is really nice. The Germans have done even better, but it's apparently non-commercial research for DARPA:(

Moonbiter. Not convinced I missed Phillywebriders point exactly, though you may have missed mine. Since Poser 5 is incompatible with the service, the software they sell, and the file format that they use (from their site) it would appear that although they are the source of the original technology/data that some customisation has taken place - regardless of who customised. My point stands that Philly asked "Does FaceGen work with Poser ?" and provided the answer "No" in the same post, via a longer quote from the FaceGen site.
