Finally had an chance to actually find time to use the Full version of Mimic this weekend, the subject: Thorne's April.... The Final result? To be honest, this software is 100x's better than the Beta or evalution version that they released, though I do miss the origional morphs that they one had to use in their ALPHA version, they seemed to work a little better than the standard morphs that Zygote released with the P3/P4 characters. Asside from that fact, the software is well worth the money. Though, I am thankful that I have two CD-ROMS, I would really be feigning if I couldn't listen to my music while I worked (it is true what they say, music does sooth the savage beast). Anyway, here is a brief clip of April in her Interview...

Hello, I just wanted to let you guys know that people do view your posts in here. I viewed the April animation and liked it very much. I am interested in the Mimic program for one of my future apps and appreciate the opinions, insights, and general remarks made about the program. Serpent

I also enjoyed the April animation - was the head movement by Mimic? It looks like the blink was, but the head movement looked less ... generic? I'm also interested in creating voices, now that I can sync them without a lot of tedium. A couple of ideas: There is an audio book available titled "Creating Character Voices for Fun and Profit" by Patrick Fraley. Two cassettes, under $20 I think from Amazon. Its pretty well done by a pro voice actor, gives a fairly scientific approach to developing your own "voice characters" using elements like: Pitch, pitch characteristic, tempo, rhythm, placement, and mouth work. Its also fun to listen to. Also, BOSS (owned by Roland) sells the VT-1 Voice Transformer, a little 6"x6"x2" box which allows separate adjustment of pitch and formant, so your voice can sound like a child, the opposite gender, a duck, a monster, etc. There is a good demo available VHS tape from Roland for about $5. Or you can hire Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Kelsey Grammar ... :-) - Steve K.

The URL is www.rolandus.com, but I think to order the VT-1 video, you'll need to call 800-386-7575.

Thanks for getting back to me on that! Went ahead and ordered the cassettes. Marque

Have you tried GoldWave? It's a shareware program that does just about anything you would ever want in a sound editing program, including pitch shifts, file format conversions, special effects, etc.

Intel Core I7 3090K 4.5 GhZ (overclocked) 12-meg cache CPU, 32 Gig DDR3 memory, GeoForce GTX680 2gig 256 Bit PCI Express 3.0 graphic card, 3 Western Difgital 7200 rpm 1 Tb SATA Hard Drives

Cool, thanks for the heads up on that Terry, and since it's shareware I can see if it does what I need before I pull out me credit card. =)

For sound recording/editing, I think Cool Edit still has a shareware version, also a Pro version which I think is not cheap. I use Sound Forge XP, a cut down version that runs around $40, or better yet bundled with Acid Music as "Sound Anywhere" for about $50. I have Acid Pro which is great for creating music using loops, also pretty good for mixing vocal soundtracks.

I already own Sound Forge, and Cakewalk, need to pull them out of the box I suppose. Busy learning Poser, Carrara, Bryce, Canoma, Painter 6.0 and Canoma...lol
