I showed a few renders I made of Victoria 3 to Dan Farr during beta testing (ongoing), and he mentioned me posting a few of them here. I'll be posting one at a time, so if you only see one, just wait :) I'll have four or five total for now. Let me say first that V3 is quite the 3d model. The way the morphs are set up, it makes it adaptable to many different poses. Body shapes are only limited by your imagination. I've been having a blast, and I can't wait for the final version. For these images, they are only quick renders, testing a few poses and morphs. PLEASE disregard any mistakes I may have made (and did) in positioning the hair. There were also a couple small errors on my part in setting the bump map in a couple areas. But you'll get the idea. For this first one, I tried a few new morphs, like stomach in, inhale, adding a few abs, as well as deltoids and triceps in the arms. Also notice the morph for the muscle in the armpit (can't remember the name)... it's cool. Anyway, I'll try to leave a couple comments next to each image, kinda letting you know what I was trying. Will

Please disregard the bad hair positioning :) Here I tried something more pinup-like, pulling the waist in, while keeping the curve of her hips and stomach. Definitely something that was hard to get right in V2. With this render, there would be a few other things I might try, but with each render I'm just trying a few things at a time, not a finished product. Those of you who have seen my work know I never post straight renders. But I am here. No post work at all. More to come....

Here is a pose that is close to one that will come with the figure. I changed it a bit just to see how the arms would work. I really haven't changed her face much at all... just a slight change in her mouth and eyes (and brows). V3 seems to take radical or stretched poses much better than V2. More to come.....

Here is another view of the previous image I posted. I tried to see if I could get a little gravity going in her glute. Using a bit of positive flex in one cheek, and negative in the other, I really like the way it helped define the hip bone. Also, I accentuated the muscle running down her side (lats). Also notice on her left hand, the muscle under her wrist. That's new on V3, and nice for some more tension in the pose, not to mention the muscles running down her right arm. More to come...

(disregard the bad positioned hair)-- Here's another pose, just showing one arm up, the other by her side. Going for a more natural chest as well (although I will admit, well endowed:)) I'm using a mat file here that adds a darker skin tone, as well as a sheen to the skin. There are mat files for bump as well, so you can choose your level of bump. I believe there are 5 levels of skin tone, makeup and natural maps (natural here), and a sheen and wet look. I really like the new collarbones... better definition, and the breast morphs a much better for a natural lay-down look, or not, if that's what you're looking for. I credit Daz for looking at just about every option the testers have put before them. One more to come....

MaterialForge ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 9:32 PM

Cool, thanks for sharing voodoo! Love the muscle tension effects you pointed out - THAT will come in handy for animated battle scenes! (sighs - Dan, you guys are killing my production budget...) (grin)

Cheryle ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 9:33 PM

any way to make that side pouch thing on her butt go away? that has always bothered me in the mil figures.... ( not like it really matters cause i will buy anyhew but...)

JeffH ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 9:35 PM

Did they remodel the buttocks/inner thigh to be more anatomically correct?

The legs on most poser figures are modeled too close together, there should be a gap.

guarie ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 9:35 PM

I want I want I want - how much longer are you gonna torture us Dan? She looks absolutely brilliant!

Dave-So ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 9:37 PM

hurry up :) Her face looks very much like V2...I was hoping for a totally different look...does she morph better? The rest so far is fabulous....is there a way to name the muscle dials something that makes sense?...I don't like having to have an anatomy book next to the monitor. How about showing some elbow and knee bends...arms folded across chest....

You're right... the next one is not straight render. Just for fun, I stuck the render in Photoshop, added a bit of grain, and overlaid a levels adjustment to get this look. No hair on her head in this one, but kinda liked the way it turned out. Spent about five minutes in Photoshop. Again, here, there is a skin sheen mat file added. No morphs to the face, other than eyes moved, and lips slightly parted. Bunch of morphs used to get her chest to look like that. One thing I think all should know is that V3 may not be much to look at when you open the default figure. But it's not meant to be used that way. You can create almost any look you want by using the full body morphs... a few people may never click on a body part except to move it. Body morphs are more both more numerous and better defined than in V2. Also, each morph has used more control points for the movement, so the movement is both more subtle, and more powerful. The body zones blend much better. Thanks for taking a look. I'll post again when I get away from checking out V3. Daz has done some neat things here; I've been impressed in their desire to create not only a more realistic figure, but one that's also adaptable to many body types. No, they didn't pay me to say that. Really. All I can tell you is that once the final v3 comes out, v2 will watch from the bleachers.

Dave-So ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 9:40 PM

The blonde, post 6 looks like someone....hmmmmm obviously more facial morphing possible than before?

how poly intense is it? and will we stil have the same cross talk issues we have now?

voodoo ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 9:42 PM

Cheryle, yes, you can change the "pouches" as you call them. JeffH- Yes, the thighs and butt you mention are there... I just prefer a bit more on my figures. If there's any error in the renders, it's my fault, not the figure's.

Dave-So ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 9:43 PM

there's no crosstalk in p5...is there?

LOL change them? i want to get rid of them ;) some of us are built like this / not this }{ LOL ;) just a pet peeve of mine ;P

voodoo ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 9:44 PM

Dave, I've tested the figure in both P4 and P5 and it seems to work equally well in either program.

Cheryle ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 9:45 PM

Dave-some of us have had no need to upgrade to p5 and have not done so and won't. If p4 does what i need (and it does - with no pro pac)then it's all good.

Dave-So ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 9:47 PM

Well...I'm not buying a couple of xmas gifts in anticipation of buying V3.... Have you tried the prior Vic clothing? Doe it fit?

Dave-So ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 9:50 PM

Hey Cheryle....I understand about not buying p5.... Is crosstalk from the figures themselves or from the way P4 interacts with them ? Otherwise, the null figure technique works well to rid the crosstalk in P4

FlyByNight ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 9:58 PM

Wowzers! When asked by family what I'd like for Christmas I said cash so I can go shopping at DAZ. :o) I've never asked for cash in my life! Ha! Ha! But I'm hooked and Vic3 is first on my "to buy" list. Thanks so much for sharing these images with us, I'm very pleased with how she looks, great to have a sneak peek. I see many of those little problem areas are gone, like arm pit to shoulder blending, and the knee area when bent, and I just love the skin texture and muscle tone. I think she has a nicer face than Vic2. Hope she'll be on my hard drive before Christmas!!! Yeah!

Dave - i have no idea where it (the cross talk) comes from- only sometimes i get it sometimes not. shrug never really paid too much attention to it except when it shows up unexpectedly ;P

is v3 anatomically correct...as in genital areas? or do we need to be censured ? Also...will v2 textures work? and all the clothing we previously went broke to have? These Poser characters have more clothes than I have had my entire life.... I'm still wearing the same shoes I bought back in 1979...that duct tape is wonderful

How about something not called Vicki. This is a bit old. Would like something new here. Different body shape. She looks to much like my first wife. Ron

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 10:58 PM

"Anatomically correct" LOL... You don't think DAZ is going to give away all their secrets do you? I am not a physician so I can honestly say I am not too familiar with anatomy. (I just know what I think looks good.) The thing that strikes me as the most appealing about V3 is her face and how more natural she looks. I am just completely excited about the prospect of her release. If she looks this good then M3 and S2 are going to blow us away!

Cheryle ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 11:00 PM

i just hope it will run on my computer ;P i don't want to have to buy a new computer just to run them....

Bobasaur ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 11:03 PM

Actually, Vicki seems a reasonable name for someone who keeps getting reworked. First you have V1. Then V2. Then V3. Which pretty conclusively demonstrates that despite all appearances, Vicki is still a version. Like a version, Touched for the very first time. Like a version, When your heart beats; next to mine.

Ron, call her whatever you think is prettiest. :) Lady Jaiven, That is a material zone bordering the Stockings material. Might have rendered it and forgot to match the highlights there. That's all. Don't worry there are tons of faces.

If she doesn't come complete with genitals... I'm NOT buying. DAZ knows how many hundreds of dollars I've spent there the last couple of years... and I'd gladly spend more, but NOT for a slap in the face. I don't do pornography. I'm just fed up with discrimination. What we females have naturally at birth is not offensive, and if DAZ makes a male model with full anatomy, they can damned well make a female model with full anatomy. Carolly
