Subject: hey animators

Hey, I am wondering what would be a good program to edit my animations in? Like, say I have several scenes that I want to "tie" together, chop up, and all that jazz. Are there any decent, relatively inexpensive programs to do this with? evo

Quicktime Pro is another solution

thanks, do these have soundtrack options? also, does anyone have any tutorials on making animated gif's from poser animations? or tools that do that? evo

If you want to make an animated gif from poser, you can save the movie as individual files, then import them into Photoshop/imageready (if you have that) and make one. I went looking around Quicktime Pro (briefly) and don't see a way to export to animated GIF. I have noticed several little apps that make them on www.versiontracker.com, namely gifbuilder. I think it's mac only, might want to check.

I've heard/read of AVIedit (shareware) VirtualDub (Free) and ABC VideoRoll (Free -also can add sound files) which do the job fine. GIF Animator 5 can import-export still-images or animations at what was/is a reasonable $29.95 retail. Sorry I don't have URL's handy but search on the names should take you to the sites. Cheers, Masha

VirtualDub homepage
AVIedit homepage
ABC VideoRoll

I prefer JASC's Animation Shop for creating animated GIFs. It's usually bundled with Paint Shop Pro, but can be purchased separately.

A cheap but effective solution is quicktime pro. What I use to edit animations and home movies is "Ulead media studio directors cut" Which has all the features of the Full price Media studio, except for The High end text functions and has fewer effect plugins. I really like it. For most things it's as good as premier with a much friendlier interface.
