With the geometry of this figures the best result you will receive at this way: 1. Load the object-file to UVMapper (see at the utilities-section) 2. Make a new UV-Map with settings "planar/z-axis/don't split" 3. save the new object under new filename 4. save texture template 5. colour the new template in your painting programm 6. load the new object in Bryce and apply the new texture That's it. actually Rita, tho I dislike the GUI in Painter 3D, I do like the capability of the program. Because of the fact that when you create a texture map in the 3D capabilities, it creates the tex, bump, glow, reflect and all the maps at the same time. So you have a multilayer map that I, at least, can then import into my Bryce materials library. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm assuming it's possible because when I try to import a map into the library now, it tells me it needs a multilayered tiff. So I'm thinking Painter 3D can do that. Oh, to get to that library by the way, apply any texture, go to the material editor, alt/shift click on the name of the texture map and that should being up the map library.

Hi Folks! Am I the only person who experiences problems actually mapping a texture I create in Painter 3D onto a poser object? I imported some of the clothing obj files (such as West's bra/bikini top, for example) and composed some nice textures, but the coordinates are all screwed up. The texture either shows up on the back rather than front or only in a small portion of the object. All this after creating new templates with Steve's UV Mapper. Maybe someone can offer some insights. Peter (Dr Zik)
Rita, why don't you search on the web for pictures of flamingos, cut and paste the texture from photos till you have a reasonably large, say 300 by 300 picture, then go into materials editor and use the picture as a texture. reverse the uh, transparency or whatever it is, the first black white button over the second window in the picture editor thingie. That will give you brighter colors. Play with reflection and transparency and the dte until you get something that looks right. apply it to one of the objects to see how it looks, and when it looks good go to the material editor, users, and just click add to add it to your materials.

no, you have to have photoshop or something similar to make the picture. Try to find a large picture of a flamingo. Grab it and then in whatever art program you have, find a nice big square of pure texture, select that, cut it out of the pic and save it as a new image. Then go into bryce, on your object, click on the m to get the materials editor. Click on the second button from the left to bring up the little gold man, then click on the top button directly above that to get the loader. You'll see three windows, the first is alpha, the second is, I think transparency, and the thirs is a combination of both. Click where it says load, and go thru the files to find the picture you just made. Load that. Do the same thing in the second window, Since you're in Bryce 3, you'll need to look above the second window to find a button that's half black and half white. Click that to reverse the transparency, which will make your texture brighter. Then adjust your settings in the materials editor like always. I'd say set diffusion and ambiance to your picture, and set the rest to colors if you want, Maybe set bump to the picture. Then, if you need to, click the top left button and start scaling and moving the texture around. Apply it to your model, then, if you like it, click on the edit arrow to bring up the library, and just add the material you just made to the library. Are you confused yet? lol

well, I'm having problems just applying normal images downloaded off the net, clothing maps and stuff. None of those seem to be upside down, they just seem to apply randomly on opposed halves of the body, half the head, half of one foot, scattered all over the body. I don't get it at all

Oh, now you're going to confuse me if you change the subject. Your first question was about matching maps to models. If the maps are not labeled,(pretty rare) you will just have to become familar with each of the different model's mapping layouts. You can use UVMapper to see what the map template for any .obj file looks like. With regard to matching clothing models to figures, you can assume, by default, that most clothing is for the P3 or P4 nude female figures. Pieces done for Zygotes NYW, Eve, or Victoria are usually indicated in the title or readme.

Here is an image created in Bryce. I had no textures for the flamingos so created "coloring" in Bryce3. No 1 shows woodgrain texture done in stages, #2 plain color, #3 woodgrain all at once. Results are terrible and I would like to create my own textures. I have Painter 3D for Poser 4 that came with the Poser Program. Can I use Painter3D to make textures and are there any tutorials on how to do this. The manual doesn't give much info. I also have Paint shop Pro6. Appreciate any help you can give me on this.
