ok does anyone have any idea why in the name of GOD does posettes fat butt bend my modles to all hell and back?! And is there any way to fix it? attached is a pic to show what i mean .. the hip really shouldn't be all bent up like that .. it should look kinda like a rounded triangle ....

Wizzard ( ) posted Wed, 19 February 2003 at 2:06 AM

hrmmmmmmmm..... it looks like the hip pieces are parented to the thighs... and the pose is twisting them out of place? from what I can see the hip is tilted forward and the thighs bent and twisted..... hrmmmmmm...... do you get a simular effect when she's in the "default pose?

Mordikar ( ) posted Wed, 19 February 2003 at 8:44 AM

no. when in the default pose i don't get this .. but any time i move her legs her hip streatches. I thought maybe if i made the hip pice separate and then added the thigh flaps it might not do it ... but even with out the flaps it does it ...

Have you tried turning IK off, that can really screw things up...

Attached Link: http://www.morphworld30.com

heyas; try downloading eve from morphworld and see if that is better for you. eve introduces a buffer zone between the thighs and hips, to prevent thigh movement from... well, doing this. wizzard.... is that YOU!!!?!??!

Mordikar ( ) posted Wed, 19 February 2003 at 1:36 PM

hmm .. she's no longer on his download page .. and actually i was developing this armour to be a for sle item for posset .. (though i'm not sure what kind of sales i'll acually get) oh well .. thanks wizzard and Bloodsong ... btw turning off ik actually made it worse .. not sure why .. i think it's just the way her butt's made myself ..

Lyrra ( ) posted Wed, 19 February 2003 at 4:08 PM

oh and that armour is totally fabulous ... can we see a non squinchy render please? What's the poly count look like with all those scales?

Mordikar ( ) posted Wed, 19 February 2003 at 4:22 PM

file_46781.jpg

poly count is high ... not totaly certain but i know i's high .. i've been working on the shin guards today at work and they are 1013 polys each .. which isn't bad .. i've got the arms down to a descent level but if i remember right the breast piece is something like 20 or 30 thousand .. anyhow.. here's a pic of the armour from the front ..and un-squishified .. i didn't have the shins done when i di this but all the other pieces aren't up here so i can't render them with the rest of the armour. now i gotta make boots, figure out what i want to do with her thighs. get the poly's down on the breast piece, and get the shoulders poserized (they are already modled) then i'll be done and it'll be ready to go. will keep ya updated. :) take care Mordie

Definitely an unusual approach; I haven't seen a style of armor for Poser quite like this before. I would bet it would be popular. Although hi-poly counts will keep some potential buyers away, machines always get more powerful, and many people won't let machine capacity stop them from getting a great model (at least I don't!).

heres the latest rendition of the armour ... still gotta get the poly count down on the breast piece and decide if i'm gonna do thighs .. and make a helmet .. and set materials for the shoulder pads ... and edit the cr2's to get rid of excess body parts ... but i've gone farther so far than any other project i've started ... i might actually finnish this one. Woo hoo .. go mordie go ! go mordie go! (sorry some times i need a cheering setion ... and when it comes to graphics stuff my wife gets the deer in the head lights look, nods her head, and walks off) :)

Mordikar ( ) posted Wed, 19 February 2003 at 10:56 PM

better lighting and rendering at 300 dpi instead of 72 helps out a lot ... :)

Wizzard ( ) posted Thu, 20 February 2003 at 12:08 AM

It looks really good Mordikar 8 ) impressive modeling 8 ) hrmmmmmmm... on the spreading explosives.... aside from preventing Posette from eating large quantities of beans...... cough check to ensure bending is Off on the armour parts.... after all... steele doesn't exactly bend easily 8 ) I'm still working out probable causes... and yes Blood... the one the only the original 8 )

(cheering section) It is definately distinctive. :)

Mordie, when you sell it in the Marketplace, and those checks come rolling in, I bet they help your wife with that "deer in the headlights" look... "...oh, that's what 3D modeling means..." LOL

Mordikar ( ) posted Thu, 20 February 2003 at 12:43 PM

ROFL! .. isn't that how it normally works :) actually she is just seriously technically challeneged .. her tech level was up to remote controlls when i met her .. now i've actually got her answering email! :)

Mordikar ( ) posted Sun, 23 February 2003 at 6:10 PM

well i got the breast piece reduced (slightly) .. the lowest i can get it without it turning really bad is 15,000 polys.
