Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 27 5:12 pm)
Not AFAIK. You can also use the Hands library. Alternatively, you can do what I just did and buy PBooost. It is worth it, and no I'm not being paid or otherwise rewarded for recommending it. It's a f***ing awesome utility, believe me.

I was thinking about that. It sounds like a good program because everyone always speaks very highly of it in this forum. My concern was that Pbooost would be adding a lot of specially named folders to my Poser Runtime. That's more stuff I will have to dig through when I am poking around in Windows Explorer editing files. The simpler my Runtime tree is the better.
Not really classic. You can have say a victoria 2 or victoria 3 folder on all libraries ( camera,figure,face,props...) . Or say buldings only and so forth. You can esily change directories while poser is still up and running. This means better orginization all the way around . You can break it down to find things easyer in both poser and exploring. Its really a great program if you dont have poser 5. On top of that even though you can move mats or what not to the camera / hand / face .. folder you cant resave something there so you are back to saveing and renameing and moving ....
Bought pboost, can't use it so no there is no fix for it. Thought I was going to be patient enough to set up everything before going in but that didn't work and don't want to use ntfs so that didn't work...lol Just considered it money lost and moved on. I'm sure it's a great program for people not using win2k. Marque
PBoost should work fine on all Win versions, AFAIK. I bought it last week after reading about the updates (I'd been considering it for some time). Library locking problems can be dealt with quite easily. First, run Correct Reference, available here in Freestuff. It will correct texture file paths and allow you to manually correct ones which it can't deal with. Once you have that sorted, you should be able to run it just fine. I'm using XP home, which is, I believe just a prettied up version of Win2k. There are some good tutorials on Hog's own site, for dealing with any issues with PBooost.

There's only one difference between Pose and Cameras for MAT files. Cameras has a silly little square artifact on every library pic. It looks like some idiot's idea of a framing gizmo from a camera viewfinder. So all the MATs in Cameras will have this stupid square on the thumbnails. Other than that, never had a problem. mac
I never said he was an ogre..lol He said it wouldn't work and even gave a test copy to see if it would work on your system before you bought it. It was no one's fault but my own that I bought it, just thought I could make it work a little easier than it did. I need to get the correct reference though I think that will be a good util to have. And I will ask him about the update, thought we got that kind of news in email, get enough of them telling me about new products...lol Phil, hope I can learn from one of the best, only have Truespace 4.0 but I'm getting the update for that now, just can't afford 5 yet. Thanks, Marque
lol I bet his ears are burning right now :) I suppose I shouldn't really tell people to email him as he's got enough to do with trying to finish v1.4. Actually I think CorrectReference might really help with your machine, mine started off with the locked folders until I got CorrectReference, now I'm happily locked folder free :)

umm I've read that p3do explorer can do that but I'm not 100% about it, also I just found a nice looking little program that does the same, it's called Batch Rename, I'm downloading it now to try it out myself :)Maclean? I don't get any squares of anything in my thumbnails in Cameras. They look identical to the thumbnails in any other library. Correct Reference is the solution to stop Poser from locking libraries, yes, but I've had other locking problems with PBoost on WinXP Home with NTFS with Poser CLOSED. Sometimes I can't switch banks at all so had to stop using it. I run CR on everything in Poser but, as I said, even with Poser not running sometimes I couldn't switch banks.
Spit, My computer was made in La-Laland, which is why it's different from everyone else's. Do you get a full, square thumbnail or just the stupid circle with transparent background? It's something to do with the number of colors on your monitor. Poser gives you one or the other. If you get the other (square thumbs), then you should have the little camera squares too. I don't have poser on this computer, so I can't show you, but I used to color-code my library thumbs, then discovered that not everyone else saw them that way. Another of the many mysterious aspects of poser. mac
Maclean..Oh, yes, now I see what you mean. You're right, I see the little corners. Poser puts that there but you only see it if the thumb has a non-white background. Tasquah..Thumbnail view can cause problems, yes, but only if you're fast and loose with deleting thumbnail.dat or don't give enough time for the thumbnail.dat to generate when there are changes and sometimes P3DO and such will put a lock on a directory if you've left that one as the last one used in the program. But I've run into the locks in PBoost even if I haven't opened Explorer to that folder. Sigh. But nothing will make me give up thumbnail view.

To unclutter my Pose library, I was planning on moving a lot of the my poses to the Camera library (after first renaming them with a "cm2" extension.
Any long term bad effects from doing this?
