Subject: Cr2 Editor...

pink999 ( ) posted Tue, 04 March 2003 at 9:55 AM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 11:33 AM

Where can i find Cr2 Editor? seems everyone speaks about it and has it but i can't find a download of it :/

Dragontales ( ) posted Tue, 04 March 2003 at 10:22 AM

I usually edit my Cr2s in WordPad. Is that what you mean? I wasn't aware of an actual program to edit the Cr2s, but that doesn't mean I'm right. I'd be interested as well in such a thing.

Phil, I see that's v1.52. Wasn't there something buggy about that version? I use 1.51 (daily) and it's the best time-saver ever. If anyone has any doubts, I think 1.51 is still available at Yahoo/PoserTech. Link above. mac

VIDandCGI ( ) posted Tue, 04 March 2003 at 3:50 PM

Daniel Whilmes has Cr2Editor also, version 6 is the latest and used to be available at DAZ - dont know if it still is.

herr67 ( ) posted Tue, 04 March 2003 at 3:57 PM

I use ver. 1.52 to make P5 MAT files. It works good except I have to delete alot of stuff (welds, IK chains).

Ajax ( ) posted Tue, 04 March 2003 at 5:03 PM

Mac is correct. 1.52 builds cr2 that make Poser crash. 1.51 is a much better option and AFAIK you can only get it at the yahoo PoserTech group.

VIDandCGI ( ) posted Tue, 04 March 2003 at 6:38 PM

So whats the difference between D.Whilmes version and the one on PoserTech group?

maclean ( ) posted Tue, 04 March 2003 at 6:53 PM

Dan's version costs money is the main difference. I'm not certain, but I seem to remember hearing $90. Hope I'm not wrong and get irate mails about it, but I remember being mildly shocked at the price. As to what it does, I couldn't say. You have to join the group to get v1.51, but it's easy and worth it. Lots of good info in the threads there. I also use it for MATs. Yeah, just delete all the junk. I never got into using that MatEditPose thingy. I like to see what's going on. If I have a few MATs to do for one figure, I build a basic file with all the junk removed, then make what I need from that, saving the new ones under different names. mac

Attached Link: http://www.zenwareonline.com/cr2edit/cr2edit6.html

http://www.zenwareonline.com/cr2edit/cr2edit6.html is the link for those interested. It is 90$ for the full application but is only 25$ as an upgrade from 5. Have used it myself from early on and version 6 works well for what I use it for and seems to have a lot of features compared to others I have looked at. Will take a look at the one on yahoo to see if it does anything betterquickermore intuitively then the application I currently use, I dont see a demo though for D.Whilmes version though, perhaps something I will suggest to him so others can see the application in action.

Hi eveyone ! You should not compare them, You can do so many things with CR2Edit6 you cannot with CR2Editor ! Just an example I know Ajax will perfectly see what I mean : CR2Edit lets put you any ERC setting you wish, with only a click ! And it works ! Also you can do any injector pz2 file you wish and it works too ! What DAZ is calling injection poses is just a MOR Donor pz2 file Dan whilmes has already created it before the others ! Cr2Edit is a mighty tool, which secures all the manipulations you may think about a CR2 file ! And it's fast ! It's in English, Japanese and French ! Before talking about it may I suggest you to look at his himepage, I remember he has written a full page describing all the tools inside ! Sure you will be impressed ! The main goal of CR2Edit is just to supply you with so many function that you won't have to manually edit a Poser file ! And I know what I'm talking about ! ;) A'kin

catlin_mc ( ) posted Wed, 05 March 2003 at 10:23 AM

That all sounds great akin, but not everyone can afford to lay out $90 for software at the moment. It would be great if there was a demo to try out but since there isn't then I think I'll try the free one. Cat

I know ! I follow CR2Edit since version 5.12 and I can tell you it's a great useful help software to Poser ! It brings to you an inner knowledge so fantastic ! You wish to know how works ERC, MAT, MAP, MOR, CR2 master file to build your own conforming clothes... It opens to you another world ! I know 90$ is a really hard to collect for some people (I am in this case !) But indeed it gives to you ZE understanding of how works Poser files. And once you got the keys, it still can help you to open the door ! Nay... This is no joke ! And it really worth its price ! A'kin

maclean ( ) posted Wed, 05 March 2003 at 2:44 PM

Well, thanks to everyone for the info on CREditor 6. At least we know what it does now. I'm sure it's a great app, but I have to say that I find a price of $90 for a Poser tool extremely high. I paid $50 for uv mapper pro, probably the best poser tool in the world, but if it had been $90, I really would have had to think very, very hard about it. I would strongly suggest either dropping the price, if possible or at the very least, providing a demo so folks can find out what it does. This must be the only Poser 'helper' that has such a high price. It may do MATs and Injection poses, but MatPoseEdit is free and Injection Pose Builder from DAZ costs $1.99 in the Platinum Club. Hell, you can now buy Poser 5 at Amazon for $99.99!! I, personally, am 100% happy with CR2Edit 1.51. It does everything I need, and I can code my own ERC when I need it, but I'm sure a lot of people would like an app that makes it easier. mac

Jim Burton ( ) posted Wed, 05 March 2003 at 8:27 PM

I use 1.35 myself, does that mean I should update? Maybe I should use the copy of PoserPro I have sitting around too, or maybe even the copy of Poser 5! Dan does give good support on CREditor though, and once you buy it upgrades are free, forever, I think. I do know he upgraded my really old version at no charge. Gee, I'm behing in all my stuff! This is version panic! I'm still using Max 3.1, too! ;-)

akin_ ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 1:00 AM

Hey Mac be careful, it's CREdit6 and CREditor 1.51 ! ;O) You know ! I can code also my ERC, but it makes it so fast, easy and SECURE with CR2Edit ! Think about it twice ! The ERC Fox tail from Specs2 and shogashuka in the frestuff here was implemented with ERC in one minute, too fun to do ! But CR2Edit can do many other things to ! Only one tool for a bunch of functions ! =) Yes it a price ! Such as entering in the platinum club ! (Which basically gives to you the possibility to keep on buying more at less cost ;) A question of choice Mac ! Hi Jim ! We all know here you like your ol' tools in which you feel cumfortable to work with ! And pliiiiiiiiiz Do not whange anything, keep makins us dreaming one day we could reach what you do ! ;) Cheers ! A'kin

maclean ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 3:10 PM

Yep, akin, I always get the names mixed up. LOL. I'm all for choice, but here the choice is between free and $100. I'm not saying the product isn't good. Just that it's too expensive for me. And I'm sure it's fast and easy, but I kinda like doing a lot of things manually. It's a good way to learn. Some things should definitely be automated, but I'm happy doing it by hand for now. And yes, Jim, I still have max 3.1 too. Animation upgrades leave me unenthusiastic. You think you're behind! Poser 5? I bought it and haven't even installed it yet. mac

akin_ ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 5:06 PM

Sorry I thought the thread was about CR2Editor ! Then it quietly slips towards Cr2Edit ! ;0) No fuss ! It's just I do not like people who argument about something they do not know ! And as the french translator of CR2Edit (for free =) I just could not let people spit on it like that ! Yes it's 100 bucks but it worth it ! and it's not a small program ! You can't compare it to Cr2Editor ! Just like if you compare Words and the Notepad ! But I never said you MUST buy it ;Op Cheers, A'kin

maclean ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 5:46 PM

Well, akin, There's no need to argue about it. First of all the thread WAS about Cr2Editor - an app created by John Stallings. Then it quietly slipped towards CrEdit6 by Dan Wilmes. Not the other way around. Secondly, I was not arguing about something I do not know. I was DISCUSSING price, not arguing about the 2 apps. I KNOW what the prices are. $100 and free. Nor was I spitting on Dan's program. I did say, I'm sure it's great. It just seems expensive to me. I don't want people to think I have any reason for them not to buy it. If you want to spend the money, go ahead. That's all I have to say on the subject. mac PS I did the italian translation for Yarp's P3dO (for free), but I hardly ever use it. Just one of those things.

akin_ ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 11:59 PM

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA ! Okay Mac ! =) I was just trying to get the last word, but if you got Italian blood ! I know the word joust is already over ! Please let me withdraw without too much loss.... HAHAHAHAHA ! It's a joke Mac ! Have a nice day ! A'kin

ronstuff ( ) posted Fri, 07 March 2003 at 1:25 AM

I have personally used both CREdit (which I bought) and CREditor (which is free) - and am NOT affiliated with either product. To make a long story short, I got a refund on the purchase (which admittedly can do some powerful things that I can't think of any use for) and am happily using the freebie for my needs (which I would gladly pay for if it came to that). Just one opinion. user-to-user

dwilmes ( ) posted Fri, 07 March 2003 at 10:41 AM

In the 4+ year history of CR2Edit, I have had only 2 requests for refunds that I can remember. Since there has never been a refund request for the current version of CR2Edit, ronstuff must be speaking of version 4 or 5. Many of the complaints about those versions concerned the difficulty of the interface, which was not easy for the infrequent user. It was designed by DAZ, who wanted something very quick to use -- once you were familiar with the way it worked. Version 6 is a completely different animal, intended to be fast for the professional and yet full of help for the amateur. There are literally hundreds of tools, and admittedly, many will be a total mystery to the average hobbyist. The more esoteric ones were requested by professionals with specific needs. For example, Chris Derochie of PoseAmation wanted animation data in PZ2 files, and scaling for cartoon characters. Not likely to be used by many people, but it saved him untold hours in creating some pose files for a Christmas release. Yes, you can use a text editor to create one of these files, but that can get old real fast when you have a hundred to do. Dan http://www.zenwareonline.com for CR2Edit6, ZenPaint, ZenTile, VueMaster and the complete line of Zenware graphics apps - coming soon: Puzzen and ZenMesh!

ronstuff ( ) posted Fri, 07 March 2003 at 1:31 PM

I just wish you would stop turning every thread about CR2s (and other topics) into personal advertising for your overpriced products which are poorly designed, awkward, counter-intuitive, slow as mid-winter molasses, buggy, unstable and just plain UGLY. So what if they do some esoteric things that few people need or want - they DON'T do some of the fundamental BASIC things that people really need - at least not as well as some other completely FREE or moderately-priced utilities. There, you MADE me say it. Happy? Oh, Yes, ... almost forgot... your memory is bad and your customer support stinks too.

akin_ ( ) posted Fri, 07 March 2003 at 1:48 PM

CHTTT ! CHTTT ! Ron ? Learn to smile to life ! It's better for what you got ! =) See ? Mac and I were posting our arguments with respect for each others ! Because we respect ! See what I mean ???? Tss..... =)

ronstuff ( ) posted Fri, 07 March 2003 at 2:13 PM

Hey akin, don't get me wrong... I smile a LOT! You guys just make me LAUGH so much! But I hate to see false or misleading advertising, much less advertising where it DOES NOT BELONG.

maclean ( ) posted Fri, 07 March 2003 at 2:19 PM

Akin and Dan, I'm sorry if I've contributed to any bad feeling in this thread. That wasn't my intention. I really don't have anything against this product, other than what I mentioned, ie. it's too expensive for my needs. I don't want people to think I'm bad-mouthing something I haven't even used. I respect people who have the ability to program and make all these little apps we use, whether they're free or for sale. I, myself, sell through DAZ, and I know how much work can go into stuff for the Marketplace. Dan knows how much work it took to make the program and presumably, based the price on that. Fair enough. I respect that. LOL@Akin. Italian blood? I'm scottish! I have lived here for 20 years, but have never had to have a transfusion yet. Ha-ha! best regards mac

PeterWahoo ( ) posted Fri, 07 March 2003 at 4:57 PM

It's funny. You visit the Product Page, and get absolutly no good idea about the features of the program. So when does this guy actually post some usable information? You wany my $90, then you must prove you have a good product, and show good customer service by answering my questions, before I spend my hard-earned money.

akin_ ( ) posted Sun, 09 March 2003 at 9:28 AM

Hi Mac ! It's okay for me ! You know it's always the danger in an open thread to see someone comming with a "spit on your grave" philosophy ! Specially when it's easy because you do not have to stand just before the people you are insulting !Anyway I could live with that ! :) And really sorry to for the confusion Mac (I thought you did marvelous kilt fabric for a pasta guy ;O) ! HAHAHAHAHAHA ! All my apologies ! Yarp's friends are mine ! =) Cheers, A'kin

maclean ( ) posted Sun, 09 March 2003 at 10:49 AM

No problem, akin, When two people think different things, they can always 'agree to disagree'. I don't make a habit of trashing other people's work. It's not my nature. pax mac
