Subject: should my undies have buttocks in them?

Just wondering about these hippy undies I made. I grouped them with just the hip cause I thought they would be too small to put some buttocks in. But they are quite low cut and they aren't conforming too well when you move the legs around as they are. Any ideas on how much should actually be included in the buttocks region? You can see in intersecting with the thigh. The top is conforming fine, just need a little advice on the undies. Thanks.

Be best putting them in coz Vicky (this is Vicky2 ?) has the buttocks cut real high like a thong, also look at the back of Vicky you'll see a large area of your panties need to be buttocks there too, if you are cutting them in your 3 app try coloring the model to use as a guide, if you can't do that a background image might help...Steve

how much of them should be buttocks? Like how do you do the crotch area. Or do you just divide the pants into thirds with the hip down the centre and the buttocks on either side but not in the crotch area? I mean its quite squizzy in the crotch area. Hehehe thanks for answering, sorry to add more questions. I might do a quick pic of what I mean .....

tbt poser doesnt use lbuttock and rbuttock to conform if you are of the real need to put additional parts in, put lThigh and rThigh (poser uses those to conform) BT

Vic lo-res there btw

steveshanks ( ) posted Sun, 16 March 2003 at 7:11 AM

Might be better cut like that but really you need to cut it the same way as the model, so you'd be high at the sides on the front so the hip would look like a thong if you deleted the buttocks and the back needs to be almost ALL buttocks, hide the buttocks on Vicky in poser and rotate her you'll see what i mean....BT these are pants!.....Steve

I am sorry but when I read the topic header my mind boggled. My immediate thought was that they would have to be real skimpy undies if they didn't.

??? be they pants or a rubber ducky... :P poser doesnt use buttocks to conform..that is it dont use them for alignment of the body parts when the model is conformed. It does use thigh. In fact, its hard coded in poser. (Kinda like where you cant put a child on a foot other than a toe..if you do, poser renames it to toe) The buttocks addition will most likely not cause any problems..so it probably doesnt really matter which you call it in this case. :) BT

steveshanks ( ) posted Sun, 16 March 2003 at 11:58 AM

I have to disagree with you very very strongly BT (but in a nice way ;o), if a person poses the buttocks then the cloth must conform to it, especially with V3 having such long ones...email looks to be down at the moment Taura but i'll get them soon...thanks, Steve

brycetech ( ) posted Sun, 16 March 2003 at 12:27 PM

lol ok, make a skirt and give it buttocks instead of thighs ...then get back to me :) BT

steveshanks ( ) posted Sun, 16 March 2003 at 12:41 PM

Yes skirts, but this is pants ;o)...No buttocks in skirts are a compromise for the no 3 group problem in poser but if you make sure you only have one point in the 3 groups buttocks are fine....grab the free model from poserworld it has buttocks in...Steve

well I just thought that it would be buttocks because the thigh parts didn't match the mesh. But then I thought that if you moved the thighs that some of the buttocks move with it too, like in the fall off zone or something. To be honest I have tried making my last pair of shorts with no buttocks and the mesh just splits between the hips and thigh parts when conformed so I usually add buttocks in. I don't know why it does that, but like I have said before, I really don't know what I am talking about so I could and most likely be wrong.
