Subject: Wanted: The Following Clothing Items...

garblesnix ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2003 at 12:29 PM · edited Sun, 02 February 2025 at 11:52 AM

I was told that this is the place to pray to the Gods That Make Things.
This is, first off, a wish for which I am willing to pay.
I am looking for someone of the Xurge/Serrge school (powerful, sensual, tactile) to create one, or both, of the styles of clown suit seen in the two images I have provided.
Both should contain morphs to change the "bagginess".
Both should conform to Michael 2 in Poser 4 w/Pro Pack.
I don't need a neck or wrist collar. Just the main body suit.
--OR--, if someone can provide a tutorial showing how this can be done in a 3D modeling proggie (I have, and am not very good at yet, Amapi 6)I am willing to compensate for that as well.
Let me know your thoughts.
The pictures follow...

This is the generic baggy clown suit style. The odd person inside it need not...nay, should not be included.

This is a Pierrot style. There are many images on the 'net. This one captured a mood I liked. Thanks to any and all who can guide me. Garblesnix

Garblesnix - I'm not the answer to your question, but what an excellent suggestion! I'd love to get my hands on clothing items like this for any/all of the Millennium characters! Here's hoping it happens :) Regards, -Nancy.

Serrge ( ) posted Sun, 06 April 2003 at 2:39 PM

I think it`s impossible. Maybe as independent figure with attached Michael head and hands. I see two big problems, conforming to the main figure (Michael,Victoria, etc) and bending soft fabric as conforming figure. More big distans you have between body and clothing, more worst conforming you have as result. And when you will bend arms and legs on your main figure, you will have many clipping between clothing body parts.

WaxTextures ( ) posted Sun, 06 April 2003 at 3:33 PM

Considering the overall garment coverage of both styles, it wouldn't seem odd to do some massive body part hiding. You could get away with hiding everything except the head, neck, hands, forearms, feet, toes and maybe shins - but probably even those could be made invisible. -Nancy.

garblesnix ( ) posted Mon, 07 April 2003 at 2:08 PM

OK. An independent figure.
I can live with that.
I can "bone" him in Pro Pack, I guess.
What I'm looking for are the outfits.
Are they doable as independent figures, or even as tutorials?
I truly think there are a number of people who would be very interested in making, or buying, this kind of "clothing".
I am of both worlds.
Thanks to Serrge (who I consider a modeling diety) and WaxTextures (who I have yet to know).

WaxTextures ( ) posted Mon, 07 April 2003 at 2:17 PM

Garblesnix - from my perspective, (and I'm not a texturing 'deity' - someday, perhaps) I'd like to get my itchy fingers on them to texture. I'd be interested in knowing if/when this happens. Regards, Nancy.

Serrge ( ) posted Mon, 07 April 2003 at 6:50 PM

If you want, I will try to create something similar. But I don`t give guarantee for functionality of this thing :).

WaxTextures ( ) posted Mon, 07 April 2003 at 6:56 PM

Serrge - What a kind offer! If you do, I'd be happy to test for you. -Nancy.

garblesnix ( ) posted Mon, 07 April 2003 at 7:04 PM

Serrge:
The one-piece, baggy suit is the one I crave the most.
Also, it seems to be the one most "suited" (sorry) to being used for other types of clothing (for people who like making MT's). The Pierrot style is more for my "artsy" mood.
If you can show me an example of what you can do, it would be greatly appreciated. If it even barely approaches the work you've done with your armor, it will be a thing to behold.
We can discuss compensation as we near a mutual agreement on what I'd like, versus what you can deliver.
I hope this works.
G'snix
p.s. for another example of what I'm looking for, see if you can rent the movie "CLOWNHOUSE".
I played Lunatic Cheezo.
Hence, the interest in clowns.

I make this suit. It`s not textured and not realy finished. Don`t have a time, sorry. You like it? Lets me know please. I hope create another one too, but maybe little later.

garblesnix ( ) posted Thu, 10 April 2003 at 1:07 PM

Nice job, Serrge! Fantastic. I can't wait to see what develops. I understand about your time commitments, so I will be patient. Just having someone of your caliber working on this is worth the wait.
Three things:
(1)can the pectoral muscle region be smoothed into the rest of the suit? Or is this something that can be dealt with using morphs?
(2)I don't really require the collar or the buttons. I'd like to be able to make any additions as needed.
(3) for a finished product, what price do you see? The models I've seen you offer, and the one I've purchased (Chaos Knight), seem to be in the $15.00 to $25.00 range. I'm willing to go as high as $50.00 for what I need. Does that sound fair? Also, I would expect no proprietary ownership. If you wanted to sell it at your Marketplace site, or eventually offer it as a Freebie, that would be fine. I just want the suit and feel you're the person that can create the image I see in my mind. Please let me know your thoughts.
And finally: what program do you use for your models? Just curious.
Again, thanks for your effort.
g'snix

Serrge ( ) posted Thu, 10 April 2003 at 1:54 PM
  1. Yes. I will do what. It`s just a first modeling and conforming, so no morphs, no detail ...etc. 2. I think, I will do the collar and buttons just like a props attached to the suit, so it will be possible delete or set invisible if you need. 3. The price will be in range 10.00 to 25.00. Depend one suit or two and the number of props.

garblesnix ( ) posted Thu, 10 April 2003 at 3:07 PM

Serrge: Thank you so much for all your help and work. All three of your answers are perfect. BUT...I'd still like to know what program you use for your modeling...only if you're comfortable with that. Again, I'm just curious. g'snix

Now it look like this. The collar and buttons - attached props. Hat style, it`s a big question for me. I don`t know how it look`s. I use simple modelers like Wings or similar, the big programs overautomated for me :).

garblesnix ( ) posted Mon, 14 April 2003 at 11:02 AM

Yes! That's what I'm looking for.
I especially love the hint of ruffling (is that the word?)at the ankle and wrist areas.
What do we do now?
I'd like to get this as soon as possible.
I'm going to be traveling for 2 weeks starting May 6th, and will have a lot of time to play with this.
Also, and this is just a question, no pressure at all, is there a way for you to briefly explain how you did this? Not necessarily a step-by-step tutorial, just how you got the "baggy" look. [ex. "I extruded the blah-blah-blah, and then I blah-blah-blah'd the thingee."
Maybe using less technical terms than "blah-blah-blah" :^)]
Thanks again for your work and your artistry.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Garblesnix

garblesnix ( ) posted Mon, 14 April 2003 at 3:18 PM

Serrge: Please disregard the comment about the "ruffles". I meant the "cloth" wave movement at the bottom of the forearm and the shin parts, as though it was "gathered". The ruffles are nice, though.

I just finished other suit (two parts: shirt and pants) and other litlle thing like shoes. I hope it will be done soon. But it will take 2-7 days for approvment on MP and the texturing still a big question. About tutorial, I can`t explain because my english realy bad and it will take more time for me then I take to create this model :). Sorry. For the first suit I start with 3 cube and bla, bla ....

Momcat ( ) posted Mon, 21 April 2003 at 7:19 AM

Oh! The Pierrot is just beautiful >^_^

garblesnix ( ) posted Mon, 21 April 2003 at 11:25 AM

Serrge:
The Pierrot is on the right track.
Can the sleeves, from the elbow to the wrist, be made to hang downward as in the picture above?
Or could this effect be achieved by the use of morphs and/or scaling?
And please, please, please: lest you think me too critical, I love them both and want them both.
As I mentioned above, I will be traveling starting May 6th and would like to have the Baggy Clown Suit to play with.

I don`t know , sorry.

Serrge:
I'm back from my trip through the Midwest of the USA.
Rain and tornadoes.
Everyone smokes.
Meat and potatoes are considered appetizers.
Woo-Hoo!! My people!
I played with the baggy clown suit when the opportunity arose, but that was less frequent than I had hoped.
One question: do I conform the suit to the figure or vice versa?
Thanks for your help and your artistry.
G'snix

Serrge ( ) posted Thu, 22 May 2003 at 10:50 AM

You conform suit to Mick, as all other clothes :). Final version pending in the air, I don`t have any news about textures :). Best regards.

garblesnix ( ) posted Thu, 22 May 2003 at 4:55 PM

Smiles, blessings, and chocolate be upon you and yours. I think this project will spark a lot of interest from people wanting a simple body suit that can be manipulated to their liking. You, my friend, rock!

garblesnix ( ) posted Wed, 28 May 2003 at 12:27 PM

I've been playing with the baggy clown suit the last two days. It's everything I could hope for. I even managed to use the Pierrot shoes to create the standard "big clown shoes". Thanks again, so much for your work. I can't imagine what else you're going to do for the "final version", as you call it, but I eagerly await. I'll try to upload an image of what I've done so far as soon as I get a chance.

Serrge ( ) posted Wed, 28 May 2003 at 1:34 PM

Well.. The final version, its the same with minor chagement in geometrie grouping and plus some textures. I wait for a textures and I dont have any news about :).

garblesnix ( ) posted Mon, 16 June 2003 at 10:40 AM

Serrge:
When I texture the baggy clown suit, the texture pattern goes in a different direction in the crotch area. It is perpendicular from the rest of the suit. Using plain colors doesn't show this, only patterns. Is there a remedy?

Thanks again.

Garblesnix

Serrge ( ) posted Mon, 16 June 2003 at 11:39 PM

What is a "crotch" area ??? Take a look on template for the suit and you will understand. You can`t use just a pattern, like 800 by 600 seamless. You need to create texture for the suit, using your pattern, in Photoshop or samething similar.

garblesnix ( ) posted Tue, 17 June 2003 at 10:52 AM

I export the suit as an .obj file from poser. Then I import it into Steve Cox's UV Mapper (the free one). I save the texture map, then open it in Paint Shop Pro. I identify the material groups using the Select>Material. I then color/texture the areas. The first time I used the texture map, I just textured the whole thing with one texture to see how it would look. That's when I noticed the difference in the "crotch" area (the part of the suit that houses the genitalia).
I am going out of town again and will return on Monday. I will upload a picture to show you what I mean. Thanks again for all your efforts.

I import the suit from the Runtime Directory (Runtime/Geometries/S Studio/Character Clothes/Clowns/clown-suit) into Steve Cox's UV Mapper. I change nothing. I save the texture map. I import the texture map into Paint Shop Pro 8. I apply the stripe texture to all areas. In Poser 4, I apply the texture map to suit-mat 1, suit-mat2 and suit-map3. You see the results in the 'crotch' area. The stripes go left-to-right. Can you help? Thanks

Serrge ( ) posted Sat, 28 June 2003 at 7:20 PM

You can do this in two way. First - remap obj file in UV Mapper. You can create new template like you want. Sure, you need to make backup copy of obj file :). Second - you can create texture based on existing template with one correction for "crotch" area. Turn the stripe at 90 degr.

Hi Serrge Are these CLown Suit going to be avalible any where? I would love to update my characters with those outfit:) http://www.renderosity.com/photos/GAL_200211/GalleryImage282153.jpg "Excellent Work!!" Thanks for any info on this..

Serrge ( ) posted Sat, 28 June 2003 at 8:00 PM

I think it will be avalible in my store as soon as I find the time to finish it. For a moment it finished at 95% but without textures. So, I can finish it quickly with simple textures set, or it will take many more time with normal textures set. Take your choice :). Best regards.

Serrge: Here's what hapens when I paint the 'crotch' area differently. If I were to remap in UV Mapper, do you have suggestions as to how I should do each area? i.e. spherical, cylindrical, etc? Thanks for any help. G'ix
