You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

I never heard of it either.....but that doesn't mean it's not there! (: Genny

With all the problems CL has had with Poser 5, I doubt they had time to think about Easter Eggs....but I could be wrong. I think Ratteler might have the right answer! :)

iamonk ( ) posted Sun, 20 April 2003 at 7:12 PM

The Easter Egg is getting it to function properly, I don't think anyone has found it yet.

Good one iamonk! :)

It amazes me how you guys can always find a way to slam Poser in ANY thread. You are very creative. I bet you have some pretty creative stuff in your galleries. Can't wait to go look. :) I don't work at CL anymore but I still know the guys there. I will ask if there is any easter eggs. I sure didn't know of any while I was doing QA. I know that in Poser 4 (I think in Pro Pack too) there was one. Type H-A-I-R and hairs would start growing out of the selected actor. It won't render so it isn't too usefull but it was there. If I can find out about any easter eggs I will let you know. All the best, Joe

Guess it's human nature Joe....CL "slammed" us for $300 for a product that's still in basically beta form....you can't blame people for being a bit ticked. Hope you enjoy my gallery....since I'm fairly new at this I don't have a lot of items posted, plus some of the bugs in P5 have slowed me down a bit.

Lawndart ( ) posted Mon, 21 April 2003 at 2:15 PM

Yeah I know about human nature. It sucks that people have had problems. We (CL) were really bummed that it went bad for so many people. It ain't just CL. I just "upgraded" a modeler that I own. rolling eyes while making quotes with fingers First time launching it crashed. Second time launching it crashed. Third time launching I couldn't use any tools. It was frozen. Fourth time launching I had no interface. Fifth time launching It came up, almost opened a model then crashed. Sixth time launching I got the model to open whew. Rotated the model in view and it crashed. Back in box and put on the shelf this one goes. I have never ever had that kind of problem with Poser. Believe me, if some of the people out there are having these kinds of problems with Poser... I feel there pain. I really like the images you have in your gallery. Nice stuff. It's nice to see the subjects you are touching on. Keep up the great work. Cheers, Joe

Thanks Joe :) I've never been a big fan of "Vicky in the Temple" and have avoided those types of renders. Still have a lot to learn :) I still use P5 (I never had P4). I know that you guys must feel worse about this than anyone. The bugs in P5 are not as bad as what you describe..mostly just annoying little "glitches" that crop up every now and then, along with the memory useage problems, etc. that I'm sure you've heard about a hundred times. I would probably be willing to put up with most of them if I could interface P5 with Vue d'Esprit:) Hopefully the future will bring better fortunes for CL and P5. Thanks for checking out my work and for the compliments. Take care :)

Joe, I can't ever recall slamming P4, It has treated me well. The occasional bug or fart, but nothing major. Now P5, that's a different story! I won't rant since it doesn't do any good, and people have grown tired of it. I'll just sit here crossing my fingers and hoping for the best when SR3 is released. I've been waiting a long time to make use of the dynamics.

Lawndart ( ) posted Mon, 21 April 2003 at 4:43 PM

I'm hoping that SR3 will be a big help for people too. Poser has always been one of my favorite tools. I'm in the same boat as the rest of us users since I don't work at CL anymore. I do know that the developers at CL are working very hard to make this patch the best yet. I don't have any problems with P5 on any of my 3 systems at home but will most likely use the SR3 patch anyway. Now all I need them to do is add a "make pretty picture" button and I will be all set! LOL Cheers, Joe

Am I the only one who regularly and successfully uses P5?

I don't know if you would consider me successful, but I do use Poser 5 regularly. There are a few of us around (but we hide when the flaming arrows start flying).

Lawndart ( ) posted Mon, 21 April 2003 at 10:09 PM

I use it with great success.

Valandar ( ) posted Mon, 21 April 2003 at 10:12 PM

I use P5 regularly, including the hair, cloth, and material rooms, yet if I try to play a game or use any other program with hardware acceleration, my computer ends up rebooting in the middle of a stage...

Nope, Valandar. In fact, I haven't rendered anything in P4 since P5 came out. Just not worth it.. I am way too addicted to the benefits of the materials editor.

I've had P5 since the beginning (I was a preorder). I had a few problems before SR1 but haven't had any major ones since SR2. And I must say that the technical staff at CL promptly replied to my request for help with a variety of possibly solutions. Most of the problems were more to do with WindowsME than with P5. I have pictures that won't render due to needing too much memory but I had the same problems with P4 and P4/PP. I admit that I haven't used most of the extra features much but I absolutely love being able to have separate Runtime and nested folders. I haven't used P4 since SR1 came out.
