Subject: Daz Platinum Club Closing???

Disciple3d ( ) posted Thu, 08 May 2003 at 8:52 AM · edited Sun, 01 December 2024 at 5:23 AM

I've heard mumurings that the Daz Platinum club will be closing when the initial memberships are up. Is there any truth to that? I notice the platinum membership is still available so I guess it would need to be a year from when they stop offering it. Anyways, I feel like the prices in Platinum club are a great deal and hope that membership goes on. Can anyone from Daz address this? Regards, Brent

Absolutely not. The Platinum Club is a very important part of DAZ and we have no intentions whatsoever of closing it. In fact we are putting more and more efforts in developing products for it. You will see an even increased commitment on the part of DAZ and associated artists in adding new products to the PC that may convince even the most resistant community members to join up:)

Thanks to the support of all those involved that help to keep the Platinum Club going (customers, artists etc.)

Sincerely,

Dan Farr
President, DAZ Productions

The Platinum Club is a great deal. It is worth joining just for the LisaB texture/mat sets. -fritz

I think whoever was murmuring was just yanking your chain. (Thank goodness!)

Dan, Thanks for squelching such a vicious rumor. we PCers are grateful. I complain about DAZ from time to time. I feel I should thank you from time to time also. So thanks! lb

Attached Link: http://www.daz3d.com/products/michael.php

Well, there's this first official mention of Michael 3 at DAZ's web site: "Michael 3.0 is currently under development and will include many of the new groundbreaking techniques and assets introduced through the Victoria 3.0 product, such as: true-to-life body- shaping and contouring, strategic mesh resolution, photo-realistic skin mapping, and asset management. With this upcoming version of DAZ?s Michael model, the creation of animation, film, web design, illustrations, and photo-realism projects will be easier than ever before."

I think I need to go out and shop for a new mega computer...Daz is going to cause my current one to explode.

wrpspeed ( ) posted Thu, 08 May 2003 at 12:02 PM

well if michael 3 is out when my subscription is up i will renew or if they increase the number of poses or clothes for mike2(unlikely cause of mike3) or more props, scenes, lights. otherwise i may wait until mike 3 is out and hope there is the avalanche there was for vickie3

Ms_Outlaw ( ) posted Thu, 08 May 2003 at 12:12 PM

A 100 bucks US is about 1000 Canadian isn't it? Well maybe not that high, but then having to still buy models at a much lower rate I understand, is just too high for this Canuck.

Dan, I'm so glad to hear that. Regards, Brent

Thanks for posting that, greenbd. I'm hoping the versatility of Michael 3 reaches muscular deformations similar to the Hulk movie model. Some people (I think it was Konan) tried to get Mike 2 up to those proportions but there were problems at the hands and foot joints, I guess with poses that change the control joints his versatility could be expanded. Same method used to make Vicky 2 clothes compatible with Vicky 3.

RHaseltine ( ) posted Thu, 08 May 2003 at 1:30 PM

You should get your 30% off DAZ originals at least, as long as you renew while still a member.

MachineClaw ( ) posted Thu, 08 May 2003 at 1:48 PM

If your in PClub, before your subscrition runs out you can purchase it again with the 30% off it's $69 to get. Maybe other discount insentives later on dunno. Anton in another thread had mentioned that they were working on ways to make it easyer for people to get PClub memberships, dunno what that means, but seems like Daz3d is aware of it and working on something. Site has a new look, Daz Studio getting closer and closer, Mimic 2.0 around the corner, seems like a lot of things are in the works and Daz always has a few surpises around too. Later this summer it's gunna be fun I bet. Seems like Anton and Micheal Lane are probably a bit overworked, bless their little modeling hearts.

It's great to see that DAZ monitors this site so closely; you folks have always been most responsive to my minor problems and moronic requests. Thanks a million! all the best, Paul (texboy)

I mean..... come ON, folks! There are people with weak hearts in this forum. mac

Niles ( ) posted Thu, 08 May 2003 at 3:19 PM

How about some Spice... you know something new that does not have Vic3 or Koshini attached to it? Like Mike or good ole Vic2.... *NOTE notice I did not mention MM kids? ;) niles

macmullin ( ) posted Thu, 08 May 2003 at 3:57 PM

I would like to have a hint Dan on how Daz Studio is shaping up and what can the Poser community expect in the price range of the new product when it comes out?

Dizzie ( ) posted Thu, 08 May 2003 at 5:10 PM

Mac, haven't you been keeping up on DAZ Studio posts? The base program will be free and the then there will be separate plugins you can buy as you prefer. Platinum Club closing....NO WAY...that's 1 rumor I would never have believed....I think it's too sweet a deal for both DAZ and us...It's my first choice of places to purchase and even at $1.99 ea. on top of membership fees, I'll bet they're making a ton off the club and rightly so they should too! It's a great place with high quality products!

PabloS ( ) posted Thu, 08 May 2003 at 6:13 PM

Have a follow-up reduced cost enrollement for the PC. There are a few (actually several I think) that missed it due to being unemployed or under other financial constraints that would think about joining up if you would do an encore membership drive.

macmullin ( ) posted Thu, 08 May 2003 at 7:12 PM

I guess I have missed a few posts Dizzie. Where can I read a few new treads to get caught up. Is there any info posted at Daz as well?

kbade ( ) posted Thu, 08 May 2003 at 10:21 PM

There was a press release with the DAZ Studio info up at their site. It was linked on the home page, but with the new site design, you may have to check the new menus.

Dizzie ( ) posted Fri, 09 May 2003 at 12:15 AM

do a search in this forum for DAZ Studio.....:>)

RHaseltine ( ) posted Fri, 09 May 2003 at 6:12 AM

It's going to be "tell ware" - you have to tell two people about it to get it free*. * the return ticket to the depths of the Amazon jungle to find the last people ignorant of D|S may dent your account a little.
