Why buy Painter8 for 299,- when you can buy a WacomGraphire2 for 99,- get Painter Classic for free and then upgrade Painter Classic to Painter8 for 149,- Painter classic is given away with more or less anything you buy that has to do with computers and graphics, so you might already have it stashed away somewhere, look in you printer, scanner or digital camera box for a copy of Painter Classic and youll save yourself $150,- Staale

And why is this ad for Painter in the Poser Forum?

lelionx ( ) posted Wed, 07 May 2003 at 9:08 AM

it's not an ad.she's just passing along useful info for anyone that may be interested.

Painter8 is great in conjunction with Poser, its "natural" brushes, oil, watercolor, colored pencil etc, can do more than Photoshops' can. Of course Photoshop can do a lot more in other areas. Like Photoshop it's terrific for postwork, giving a more painterly look. Poser, Photoshop, Painter, and a good 3d terrain program like Bryce, Vue, 3dmax, Rino, etc (everybody has their favorite), complement each other. Since Painter doesn't have a forum here, I appreicate the information. I don't think the Painter8 company is pushing a way for customers to get their program cheaper. I think the gentleman is just showing Poser users an "honest" way to get the program cheaper ("if" you can upgrade to Painter8 from Painter Classic)

From Corel Website *Registered users of Adobe Photoshop 5.5 and higher, Fractal Design Painter 4 and 5, MetaCreations Painter 5 - 6, procreate Painter 7 and all versions of Corel Painter and Painter Classic are eligible to upgrade to Corel Painter 8. Owners of trial versions, Adobe Photoshop LE, Adobe Photoshop Elements and Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 are not eligible to upgrade.

Yes you can upgrade from Painter classic.(You can also find the upgrade for $120.00 by doing a little searching) I tried the demo of Painter8,and while the functions are pretty much the same as my Painter7...the interface has been changed to a very "Photoshop like"layout.This is going to make it alot easier on new users. Just once a week can you say something nice? Can you offer a word of encouragement? Can you :gasp: provide a link to a helpful site, or a mini-tut, or a reference image, or do ANYTHING that will help another artist? If ALL you are capable of offering the community is a non-stop stream of vitriol where you bitch and bellyache, whine, moan, complain, and pull down the efforts of others, especially when they are trying to be helpful and positive and useful to society, you must be one hell of a miserable entity drowning in your own piss and vinegar. Why don't you keep your grievances to yourself! Carolly

yin/yang good/evil light/dark r2/c3po hero/whiner takes all kinds to make a community. btw proadvantage has painter 8 upgrade very cheap, but in low quanities :)

Telling you how to save 150,- is not good advertising. Did CL like it when Amazon sold Poser5 for 99,-? Q of the day: If everybody knew of this, Corel would sell how many copies for 299,-? But i would like to recommend the Painter 5.5 spatter airbrush (and a good collection of papers) to anyone who paints skin textures, but you dont need Painter8 for that, you probably have to search through the CD to find it in Painter8 as the modern spatter airbrush does not do the job properly. Painter 5.5. was free with PC Format some years ago. And on the same note, why buy PhotoShop when Eements2.0 does the same job for 10% of the money.

{Since Painter doesn't have a forum here, I appreicate the information.}

Sure, there are only 16 threads in the forum and they only date back to March 21, but that's no reason to say that Painter "doesn't have a forum here".

{Can you :gasp: provide a link to a helpful site, or a mini-tut, or a reference image, or do ANYTHING that will help another artist?}

Sure, here ya go:
Painter Forum at Renderosity... carefully hidden just above the word "Poser" in the list of "Topic Forums" on your right (or left).

Well, it's a start. Maybe by next week you can think up another act of assistance to the community.

{Maybe by next week you can think up another act of assistance to the community. } Well, maybe next week someone will post a commercial on how to purchase the latest version of Photoshop and claim that there is no Photoshop forum here. That will give me the chance to post, that yes, there is a Photoshop forum here.

lelionx ( ) posted Fri, 09 May 2003 at 9:56 AM

dude, people do that and it's always been allowed in this forum,so relax.
