Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 22 9:27 pm)
There are ways! You can export .3ds or .0bj's and create the motion in 3dstudio using morphs. ( tedious ) There is also some software that I've seen mentioned in these forums that supposedly expidites the proccess. (It's the one you saw with the balerina). All of the posing would be done in Poser and static meshes would be used in 3ds. What aspects of the other packages are you looking to take advantage of? The better renderer? Better memory management? Just curious because I have dabbled with exporting to 3dstudio, but at present I am rendering in poser and compositing layers in discreet effect. Visque
If you want to animate a figure in 3dsMAX you will need to export the mesh and then use either character studio or bones pro to animate the mesh. It works. Trust me. You will have to play around with which works better but all the character studio models are solid non-jointed meshes and the biped figure deforms the mesh just like poser does. In fact you can edit the "joint" parameters in something like bones pro so that the mesh doesn't get all screwed up around the joints like poser does it. If 3ds MAX had the posing dials, presets and figures I'd dump Poser all together. Also, premiere won't do a thing for you, unless you have already rendered the animation. Premiere is nothing more than a very good video editor / video compositing program. As for Bryce or any of the other lower end programs, I aint got a clue. Never bothered with them.
Hi There's a plug in for Max written by Konan that will allow you to import an anmation into Maxbby way of a Max Script. You can use Carrara as well with a plugin called Morpher. In Cinema 4D, you can use a Poser animation. I don't have any experience with any of these iems,so I can't say how they will work. Ed
The easist way is like Ed says use Konans Maximum pose for 3dsMax once you have your animation set up in poser its very easy to use MP to bring it into max...heres a movie using it its QT4 and 320k http://www.poserworld.com/pgallery/balleydance2.mov this was the first one I did as soon as I got the full app heres the url for the app http://www.ev.ca/konan/MaxPose and there is a demo there........Steve
Konan's Maximum Pose is the easiest way to go if you want to animate in 3D Studio Max. It's quick, it's simple, and it's remarkably effective. As soon as payday rolls around again, I'm getting the full version. Gear was working on a way of making Poser work with Bryce, but I think that's fallen by the wayside Paul

I'm just curious, what's the verdict? Is it possible to animate the sequences made in Poser in other 3D packages? Mainly 3D Studio MAX R3.1 and Bryce 4? Thanks! Greg
